Hi, my son recently restored the Operating System of my eMachines D2266 computer but didn't reinstall the video/graphics card. Unfortunately, he left the next day to go to Marine Boot Camp. I don't have the original eMachines CD. How can I reinstall this card from an online source or get a CD? I tried a few websites but couldn't download the software because not having the video card itself created a problem with the download. Thanks. Saul Porecki

OK, I already tried this before sending you an inquiry and downloaded the NVIDIA program but I don't know how to install it. The file is downloaded on my computer but how do I install it? Do I need to go to the User Manual for that?

  • Anonymous Sep 09, 2010

I have gone to the User Manual and it is of no use to me. I am not trying to install a new video/graphic card. I want to reinstall the one that came with the computer.

Hi,

You can boot in safe mode to download the driver and install it. To boot in safe mode, press F8 while booting up and choose Safe Mode from the options. The driver of that machine can be downloaded on the following page.
http://www.emachines.com/support/drivers.html
Select Desktop, then D series and then D2266 and make sure the right version of Windows is selected.
The user manual can be downloaded on the following page.

The downloaded file is an .zip file. It is a compressed file. You will need a tool such as Winzip or Winrar to unzip it. If you see the icon of the file is a specific one, not an icon like a blank piece of paper, you may have one installed already. Otherwise you may need to download one and install that tool. After that, you can double click on the driver file and click on the Exact to button on the top and select the location to store the files. After all the files are exacted to that folder, you can open that folder with your Windows Explorer and look for the setup.exe file and double click on it. It will take care of the process. It seems emachine does not carry a specific graphic card but the integrated graphic card on the mother board. If you check the back of the machine and see the monitor is connected to the port on one of those slots go cross the narrow direction of the machine box actually, then a graphic card is installed other than the integrated one on the mother board. Then you might need to search all those card package box and see whether you have a CD for the graphic card or get the brand of that graphic card and download the driver from the web site of the graphic card manufacturer.

Trouble with install second video card HD 5450 to emachines t6532

Unclear of your statement. (More like run-on sentence)

Problem heading statement reads,
"trouble with install second video card HD5450 TO eMachines T6532"

Need clarification

The eMachines T6532 Desktop PC uses an MSI MS-7207 motherboard.
Also known as the MSI K8NGM2-L,

http://www.msi.com/product/mb/K8NGM2-FID--IL--L.html

(Click on photo for a better image)

Has one long white PCI Express x16 slot. (Expansion Slot)
Only uses one graphics card at a time, will Not use two.

[Graphics card / Video card. Same/same]

Therefore I surmise you are not referring to adding a Second graphics card, but are referring to;

A) This is the second time you have added a graphics card.

Or,

B) This is the second ATI Radeon HD5450 graphics card.
Had one before. Removed it, and are using a new one.

Or,

C) This is the second time you have added a graphics card.
It is not an ATI Radeon HD5450 like the old one is.

Know this;
1) You can ONLY use the OnBoard (Integrated) graphics,
OR the graphics card.
You CANNOT use both.

When using a graphics card the monitor is plugged into it.
You cannot plug into the onboard graphics of the motherboard, with it installed in the computer.

Said differently;
With the graphics card physically installed in the computer, you cannot just unplug the monitor from the graphics card; and plug it into the OnBoard graphics of the motherboard.

[Also; Computer on, you CANNOT unplug a monitor, and plug it back in.
This = NO ]

2) Driver: Small piece of software that allows the Operating System to communicate with a device.

The device is the graphics card.
The version of Windows operating system was not stated.

Did you install the software from the Installation Disk? (CD/DVD)
Has the drivers on it, and the user interface software.
User interface software for an ATI graphics card, is Catalyst Control Center.

(Just to note; I'm using a Powercolor Radeon HD5450 graphics card, right now.
I'm using dual monitors.

HP 2009M - 20 inch widescreen LCD monitor, and an RCA L26HD31 HDTV as the main monitor. (26 inch HDTV)
They work GREAT! ]

(It is an ATI Radeon HD5450 graphics card just like yours, IF yours has 1GB of graphics memory.

Doesn't matter what graphics card manufacturer, makes that HD5450, it is still an ATI (AMD) design.

Powercolor, VisionTek, Sapphire, Diamond Multimedia, Mickey Mouse, or Goofy. It is still an ATI graphics card )

The ATI Radeon HD5450 graphics card, has to have a MINIMUM power requirement of 350 Watts.
Does your power supply have 350 Watts or more?

If it is the original power supply, the answer is NO.

Back then power supply manufacturers were 'fudging' the true maximum rated wattage.
Why?

Sold more power supplies.

Power supply rated at 250 Watts?
Nope.
More like 60 to 70 percent of that.

Divide 250 by 10.
= 25.
Take that times 6. = 150 Watts (60 percent)
Times 7 = 175 Watts (70 percent)

Would like your opening statements clarified.

Halo game slow up

There can be several issues for the slow rate and if your PC is scanned for virus or malware it will confirm the case.
Also if there are faults in the operating software the system can be slow and if so the OS must be reinstalled or the recovery is used or also if you can reset it using RESTORE..

My soundcard isnt working on my computer is there a way i can fix it?

Hi,you can try this uninstall the sound card driver, then reboot your computer. When you reboot the computer the operating system will automatically reinstall the sound card driver.
This is how to uninstall the driver in windows 7,you didn't say what operating systyem you have so I'm hoping this helps.
Click start and open Control Panel by default the window will open in Category view (top right) click the arrow and slect Large icons.Once that is done look on that page for Device Manager and left click.
A new window will open called Device Manager, look for Sound,Video and game controlers and left click the arrow,You will see the installed Audio devices, right clicking the listed installed components will give the option to update or uninstall. After you finish uninstalling the driver or drivers reboot your computer windows will auto reinstall any needed drivers.I hope this has helped good luck.

EMachine Video Card upgrade

Ok so are you getting video from the card? Look in system information and see what graphics hardware the computers says is installed. Are you replacing a video card or did you add a card to the system? If you are adding a card make sure that you change the settings in the BIOS to boot first on AGP/PCI-E express slot. Make sure that fast write settings and bus speed settings are compatible with your card. For example if you purchased a 8X AGP card and your computer only does 4X the card may not work. Double check that you are trying to install the correct drivers for your card and operating system.

Can I upgrade my graphics card?

You could tell us you model number or look it up yourself on the e-machine website(Link provided below).  I do know that the PCIe x1 slot is only about an inch long. Maybe that is why you didn't see it?

No sound

To get to device manager, open windows control panel. Double left click the System icon. Once the System Properties window opends click the Hardware tab & than click the Device Manager button. If this does not open at any point or you can not get there at all. Your operating system is damanged & you will need to reinstall it. Your system may be infected with a virus or worm. If it is, windows system restore is also infected & you can not use win system restore.
Run a full system virus scan with an "up to date scanner".
If you do not have a virus scanner you can download AGV's virus scanner for free. Click on this link:
