I need to replace the Archos 5 Android touch screen. I have already separated the screen from the base. What is holding the screen to the frame? Is it adhesive? How do I release it? What can I use to attach a new touch screen to the frame?

Take off the ribbon connector at the screen and the phone and re-seat the cable. That may do the trick.

Hello there is a secondary screen you can buy on amazon, or eBay for about 5 dollars. Applying it is simpler than you think. All you need to do is take off the base frame of the phone and replace the screens. Then put back the base frame. Taking off the base frame is simple all you need to do is find tiny screws located inside the battery department. Then you put back the base frame and your good. No need for a professional, no need to buy a new phone, no need for anything but satisfactory that you did this yourself and can help others for cheaper. Hope this helps =D

Dba Archos dealer should be able to replace screen. Or try Office Depot or Office Max.

This is how I solved the problem with the touch panel as of this time....

The first solution, the additional cable from Archos website or manual

Attach this cable to the archos, wait for a 10 seconds then the touch screen would work. If the cable won't work attach a wired mouse.

The second solution is a female to female usb. (If you don't have the additional cable from the website or the manual.)

Attached the cable that comes with your archos then the female to female usb adaptor, wait for a few seconds then the touch panel would work again. If it doesn't work attach the wired mouse wait for a few seconds until the archos recognizes the wired mouse. (

If you mean to connect your Archos to your Android device through Wi-Fi, than, yes, you can! But, only if your android device supports the tethering feature. For example if you have an Android 2.2 (Froyo) device than you go to Settings->>Wireless & networks->>Tethering & portable hotspot and tap "Portable Wi-Fi hotspot". From the Archos, go to the the Wi-Fi settings and connect to the network you've just created. If you do not have the tethering option available, you should find out if your carrier or device manufacturer has an update for the device. Hope it helps!

after reseting my archos 605 my touch screen has stoped functioning properly i youch 1 part of the screen and it keep going to my menu bar i hit video it will open the menu bar or any part of the screen i touch it opens the menu bar
