Sony vaio display driver for windows 7 - Sony VAIO VGN-SZ460N/C Notebook

  • Anonymous Sep 08, 2010

Realizing this is not a great solution but have you attempted to use the Vista video drivers? The similarities between the Operating systems are fairly substantial so you may want to give that a try when you get a chance.

  • Anonymous Sep 08, 2010

THE problem is: Sony won't support its loyal customers with Win 7 Driver support AND at the same time, has made several propriatary changes to hardware such as the NVIDIA GeForce G07400 Graphic card. So, NVIDIA won't supply a driver update and Sony won't either. That means we have to rely on those excellent tech-savvy individuals who can help to write code to get around these greedy corporate bas-tards. Here is the file name you need for the Go7400 (and several other series 7 video cards), XTreme G 190.62m Vista Win 7 64bit.exe and the line here:

Additional Note: I own a Sony VAIO Computer with a GeForce Go7400 Series 7 video card. I downloaded and succeeded with the file link above. BUT: I have a 64-Bit Win 7 Installation.
Those with 32-bit will need to search for the 32 bit version on the softpedia site.

Sony has not released the Windows 7 Driver for this Computer model. However, you can try installing the original Windows Vista Driver to resolve the issue.

Please download the Driver from the below link

Download the Driver

Please click the "Accept" button on the page to download the Driver.

Then, please unzip the file and double click on the "DPInst32.exe" file to begin the installation.

After installing the Driver, please restart the Computer for the settings to take the effect.

Camera should work correctly after installing this Driver.

However, you may need to download and install the Camera Application to use the Camera. You may also use the Camera with any messenger Application like Skype or Windows Live Messenger.

You can download the Windows 7 Compatible "ArcSoft WebCam Companion Software from the below link.

Download the Software

Please click on the "Download Now"option on the page.

Then, please double click on the file to begin the installation.

After that restart the Computer for the settings to take the effect.

You may be able to download the driver from the Sony WEB site. If there is't one for Windows 8 then a Windows 7 video version driver may work.

My sony vgn-c240e not fillng the screen with windows 7. 1024x768 is the max available resolution when my notebook requiresa 1280x800 for optimum resolution.

You will need to update via the Microsoft update setting making sure you tick the box in the optional downloads to get the graphics driver you need after this is done you can then get a higher resolution to make windows 7 display fit the whole screen if this does not happen then you will need to the support website for the Sony vaio this link here is where you start to get the correct drivers you need for your display if the Microsoft updates didn't fix your graphics problem http://support.vaio.sony.eu/computing/vaio/index.aspx?l=en_GB

Hi, I have installed win7 for my sony vaio fs660 and after 3 days of google drivers search i still luck the display adapter wrong :-( it is nvidia gf 6200 but the os see it as a standart vga adapter...

You're having problems with this driver because Windows 7 is not officially supported on your Sony Vaio. There's a way around this however.

1. Go here for Windows 7 32 bit video card driver for your computer: http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7-winvista-32bit-260.99-whql-driver.html

Or go here for Windows 7 64 bit video card driver for your computer: http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7-winvista-64bit-266.58-whql-driver.html

2. Select "Download".

3. Install the video card drivers. Restart computer when asked.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa. Please post back if you have any difficulties.

Sony vaio pcg-7q1m 32 bit drivers for windows 7

Usually the Windows 7 comes fully loaded with the all necessary drivers.
But if you will miss some drivers after the installation of Windows 7 is done - there is a solution, so don't panic!
If you have UNKNOWN DEVICE displayed in your DEVICE MANAGER just right-click on that unknown device, select PROPERTIES and select UPDATE DRIVER.
A good source of drivers for your Sony VAIO is here:

GOOD LUCK!

I'd suggest ring back Sony support and tell them that your OS is Windows 7 - not Vista. Therefore, you need the upgraded VGA driver because the Vista driver is incompatible with Windows 7. Hope it all goes well. If my suggestion works for you, please do rate me. Thanks
