I have a nextar MA933A. It had a low battery signal so I changed it. With a fresh battery, it said there was a file system error. I kept trying to reformat the player since the computer insisted this was necessary and the nextar website recommened this prior to use even though it was not necessary before initial downloads and use. After several failed formatting attempts, it is unrecognizable to the computer and will not do anything except display "nextar" when turned on. I cannot get it to do anything, even turn off, without removing the battery. Can anything be done or is it junk? BTW, it's been used only a couple of dozen times and only in the last couple of months though it was purchased last Dec.

That player is officially toast. There is no recovery software or firmware upgrades for that device - once the key system file is delted, it cannot be recovered.

you can download the driver @ nextar.com for Nextar MA933A. However it seems you only need the driver for it if you are using windows 98 or windows 200 prior to SP3. At the link above you can also download the manual, and read the FAQ section.

you have the play mode set to "intro",
how to solve this;
1) start playing a song.
2)Press the "Mode" button quickly, don't hold it down, just press it quick.
3)Select Play Mode by pressing the Mode button
4)Select "N" normal

all done.
