Fried something? my computer, a compaq evo n600c notebook, will not turn on. I plug the charger in, and the green "on" light turns on for a half a second, then nothing. I can hear popping from the dc socket on the computer, so i'm guessing that's not good. the charger should be supplying 18.5 volts, and it's supplying 19, should that .5 volts be causing this? I got a new motherboard for like $50 and the same thing happened so i'm guessing it's not with the motherboard.

A half volt will not make any difference. Sounds like the power supply is malfunctioning. Start by trying a different one. Keep in mind that you may have fried the new motherboard by using a faulty power supply. Popping sounds indicate a short or loose/exposed wires, and are never good with any electrical device, especially a laptop since they are sensitive to power fluctuations to begin with.

I Have A Compaq Evo N600c Laptop No Power Help!!!

Yeah it could be. Always use the correct adapter mentioned for your laptop. Otherwise it could harm the inner wirings and the motherboard. Always go for the right adapter. If it was any motherboard problem, atleast it would've blinked. So this might be the problem of your adapter or may be of the power button.

Give me password for compaq evo n600c

You can remove your bios password by reseting your CMOS battery or jamper. You need to open your notebook remove first the battery and all screw at the back of your notebook. You can see there a CMOS battery together with the CMOS jamper. Just read it you can read CLRSCR which means clear cmos, just pull it with in 10 seconds and insert it back. Now you are done to reset bios.

I accidently connected a 28volt charger to my evo

if the battery charger powers the computer, then i would imagine the motherboard is fine...

there should be some kind of fuse insode the battery to prevent things like this from causing them to explode.

Replace the battery

When you attempt to power on the compaq n600c it turns on and off repeated. the power lights come on and off, but the screen never pops up.

Try Taking The Memory Out And Then Turn it On, Then Turn It Off, And Put It Back In. Or Try Another Slot. Hope That Helps.
