Wow that's an old notebook. Normally if you look on the bottom of the laptop it will give you the model number. But all you need for yours is the fact that it is an Xe3 Omnibook.
It has 2 memory slots and will only hold a maxium of 1 GB of memory which is 512mb in each slot.
Here is where I got that info below. http://www.4allmemory.com/memory/compaq-hp-omnibook-xe3l-series/
The first thing is to check if your battery is still okay by taking it off then measuring if it has some electric charge. If you are able to use a measuring meter then that's super but if you are not able to you can use a 24V truck light bulb and connecting with 2 wires to the positive and negative side of the battery. If it lights up brightly then the battery is okay. If it's got no electric charge then there are two possibilities either the battery is not okay or the charging system of the laptop is not working. Supposing your battery is okay. Then you need to have your laptop checked on the charging system. Remember laptop batteries do not last forever they actually deteriorate to until they are completely unrechargeable. So the Battery is my prime suspect.
beeping sound means that you have a bad power supply. Normally when booting your laptop, the power supply supplies enough power to boot to the operating system. You consult HP to replace your power supply in your laptop.
I bought a docking station (port replicator) off
ebay, and it has worked great. I had a look at the motherboard, and the
docking station uses a different connection for power than the damaged
AC port. So in summary, yes a docking port should solve your problem.
If you can get a docking station for it you may be able to solve it that way.
Their is no reset button for this laptop. Pushing the power button and holding it down for a few seconds will force a shutdown if that is what you are looking for. Laptops aren't like PDA's where you stick a nail in a little hole and it reboots the system.
