Turns on, but will not play or recognize DVD

The spindle motor motor is defecteive already. replace it. when the spindle motor not working. the cd wont spin, how can the optical lens read the disc when its is not spining. you need a qualified technician to fix your problem.

Hi my portable dvd player by insignia won't read

Try using a lens cleaner. Also, reset the unit to factory defaults. Ensure that the disk you are attempting to play is clean and scratch-free. If the problem persists, you may pursue service options through the place of purchase.

Will not read

Try a lens cleaner. If that doesn't help, then your dvd lens is toast. What discs have U tried to play? Sometimes this problem is accompanied by the familiar 'click of death', that clicking noise U hear when the lens goes out and wont read any discs of any kind. I had the same exact problem once with my portable dvd player.

Built-in DVD player

Are you trying to play DVD's you've made or copied yourself or new one's you buy from an actual distributor? Because sometimes self-ripped Cd's & DVD's won't play on a LOT of DVD players. Otherwise it's bad DVD player and you should go get it swapped out if it's not too late.
