The camcorder is suppose to give you good result even on its default settings. try to reset it first by pressing and holding the reset button.(reset button is located in the panel where the lcd screen comes from. its a tiny hole and you can use any pointed object to press and hold it for 3 seconds. try recording again. if you're having a hard time looking for the reset button, try removing ll power source from the camcorder(battery and unplug it from walloutlet) then press and hold power button for 1 min.

Mode for playback of older 8mm tapes using Sony DCR-TRV730 ?

In 1990s Sony camcorder records movie in analog format so playing in digital camcorder like DCR-TRV730 doesn't mean it will be converted in digital format and you can not import file in PC for editing purpose. You will get analog signal while playing back old cassettes.

Regarding SP, LP speed, its decided at time of recording. Camera sens SP or LP automatically in playback and set itself accordingly.

If you want to convert old cassettes into digital format, connect our camcorder to DVD recorder and burn DVD which is digital format, copy DVD files in to PC and do desired editing.

Thanx a ton

perhaps its memory problem in your computer, caused by one of these:
- low RAM (use higher RAM)
- too much applications in start up (close unnecessary applications)
- too high quality setting in image mixer movie capture setting (set at normal or low quality)

or you could try to use option "EZ Video CD" for easy & quick VCD creation in image mixer, but it gives you lower movie quality
