I have a Canon PowerShot A510 Digital camera. A few weeks ago, the camera would not turn on. I thought maybe the batteries had died, but I put in new batteries, and the camera still won't turn on. When I press the On/Off button, nothing happens. Any advice on how to fix this problem?
Turned the camera onwent to take a photo & realized it was in the view setting & pushed up to camera mode quickly. It showed a photo of my steering wheel then just frooze with the lens out...then it went off with lens out, lens slowly came in. Just got a used Canon A510 powershot and it worked fine untill the batteries died. I replaced them and now the light by the dial turns on but then it gives a series of beeps and shuts off. I put the old batteries back in and the display lights up and says change the batteries. I dont know what else to do?Just got a used Canon A510 powershot and it worked fine untill the batteries died. Had the same problem. The problem is a small button cell that needs to be replaced. The Canon PowerShot A510 has a battery cover on the bottom of the camera. There is a battery cover lock on the compartment which needs to be unlocked. Holding the camera upside down with the battery compartment closest to your body the left hand AA battery is placed into the camera Postitive up - with the right hand AA the opposite.
Your best option is buy a junk one off ebay and replace LCD. LCD replacement is very straight forward, just remove the screws, pry the case apart and the rest will be easy. Use the one you buy off ebay and practice getting it apart.
Have you used this card in the past? Is this a new card?
Is this card rated to be used with this camera. Some cameras can only support cards of certain sizes.
If the card is compatible, take the card to target or best buy and format it on a camera there and see if it works then put it back in your camera and see if it works after.
For your camera, there's a tiny white slide switch on the battery door that closes when the door is closed. Make sure that the switch isn't damaged. Also check the little plastic nib on the battery door that pushes on the switch when the door is closed.
