Try cheap fix first of replacing hard drive and installing the OS. Then you gots to go for the spendy fix of new logic board.

It boots up but no operating system or desk shows up

What happens when you boot up? Do you get the flashing ? Folder icon or does it freeze on the apple logo or something else? Try starting in safe mode (startup while holding 'Shift' key) and see what happens.
If problems persist -
Next force the internal hard drive to be the startup disk (reboot holding 'D')
Still having problems? Try resetting PRAM (reboot & press Cmd+Opt+P+R. Hold until you hear 2nd chime)... see what happens, if no success do the NVRAM (reboot & Cmd+Opt+N+V)
If all that fails let us know and we'll look at the next level of options

Startup switch on PB G4 17 not getting apple sound, takes numerous times to boot up. Using Tiger OS, upgraded to latest. Works fine, otherwise.

If a Mac is shut down while the volume is set to zero, the standard Apple startup chime will not sound, so it is impossible to say whether or not this symptom indicates a problem.
For a startup issue such as this, I would recommend zapping the PRAM and resetting Open Firmware.
To zap the PRAM, start with a powered-down machine, press the power button, then immediately hold down the four keys: command, option, P, R. After ten seconds or so, you should hear the optical drive reset, and then the startup chime (because the volume is reset to full by this procedure). Ten more seconds, another reset, another chime. After the second time you hear the chime, release the keys.
Shut the machine down again (if it doesn't start up successfully, hold the power button until the power goes off). Press the power button, then immediately hold down the four keys command, option, O, F. You will see some tech-speak on the screen, then it will wait for input. Enter the following three lines, pressing the "return" key at the end of each:
reset-nvram set-defaults reset-all
After the last line, your Mac will reboot itself. It should now boot much more reliably. If it doesn't, chances increase that you have a hardware problem. You may want to run the Apple Hardware Test from the DVDs that came with the PowerBook to check your memory and logic board. Failing this, you are in for a trip to the shop.

hello , if there has been any 3rd party memory installed remove it and attempt a PRAM reset again , as well you may try a PMU reset as it appears your issue is power related.

Imac g4 lcd black screen replaced pram battery

If you can find an older SVGA monitor, try hooking it up to the port on the back of your mac. If you get video then chances are the LCD display is shot.

My iBook G4 continues to run slowly and/or freeze

Try resetting the PRAM by turning on the iBook then holding option + command + P + R and wait till u hear another chime. If it still freezes, it may indicate an application may be causing it to lock up hold shift after you hear the chime to boot OS X into safe boot.

Booting problem and blue screen

Try booting the MAC OS disk. If it boots correctly, it probably is the hard drive. Also, If it boots ok, try the repair utility on the cd.
