There is a place in the printer driver (epson part) that hays checkboxes for "color" and "Black & White". If you are trying to do this becasue you are out of one or more of the color inks, and can't print- you still won't be able to until you replace the empty ink(s), even though you told it black & White

Press the maintenance button. The print head moves to the black or color ink cartridge replacement position, the power light begins to flash, and the error
light begins to flash or remains on. When both cartridges are out of
ink, the print head moves to the black ink cartridge replacement
position first. After replacing the black cartridge, press the maintenance button again to switch to the color cartridge replacement position.

If you have carried out 4 to 5 head cleans, waited about 8 hours and done another 3 or head cleans doing nozzle checks after each clean (as recommended by the manual) and there is still no improvement then you will need a third party head cleaning solution such as this one: http://websites.uk-plc.net/UK_Inkjet_Cartridges_PLUS/products/Print_Head_Cleaner.htm
Other makes & brands are available just google "inkjet head cleaning solution" Hope this helps.
epson.com, actually you can print using black ink only, but you have to reset the color ink for it to register as full. :) or you can freeze the ink counter using the ssc service utility before the other ink rans out. :)
