I thin k I am having back ilight and/or inverter program with my HP dv6275us Notebook based on the following: - machine powers on but o video or image on screen or image is extremely faint. Upon closer inspection with powerful flashlight, the image can be seen. - connected notebook to external monitor and all else seems fine - blank screen was preceded by a reddish tint visible on the normally white areas of the start up and log in screens, until today when screen started flickering to black, a few flashes of red,. Also, the background color of my desktop which is normally solif black changed from a wide bar of green toward the bottom 0f the screen and a wide band of white in the upper portion. - I have seen this behavior on other machines that needed back light or inverter replacement. I would like to know if this diagnosis seems to be accurate and what I would be looking at in terms of the cost to repair the screen and the time it would require. Thank you for your assistance. i look forward to hearing from you soon.

These are typical symptoms of a faulty LCD cable or screen inverter board.
The LCD cable transfers data signal from the motherboard & video card to the LCD screen. It also supplies high voltage DC power to the screen inverter board. The screen inverter board works as a power supply for the backlight lamp mounted inside the LCD screen. It converts low voltage DC power to high voltage AC power needed for the backlight lamp.
As for the cost, I would suggest a search on ebay.com

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. LCD screen totally white when turn on

The HP is a flat screen monitor used with many desktop computers. When the LCD on your HP monitor goes white, it is an indication that your monitor's inverter board has gone bad. The inverter board is a small circuit board that transfers power from the monitor's main circuit board to the LCD screen. Replacing the inverter board means dismantling the HP monitor.

1. Power down your computer and unplug the HP monitor cable from the back of your desktop. Disconnect the power cable from the back of the monitor. Relocate the monitor to a flat work surface. Place the monitor with the screen facing downward.

2. Remove the Phillips-head screws from the monitor's base stand and from the back cover. Lift the base stand off of the monitor and remove the back cover. Peel away the foil from inside the monitor around the internal circuit board.

3. Locate the inverter board near the bottom of the monitor's casing. Unplug the power cables from either side of the inverter. Loosen the Phillips-head screws from the inverter board. Lift the old inverter out of the monitor's casing and set it aside.

4. Place the new inverter inside the monitor. Replace the Phillips-head screws and fasten it in place. Reconnect the power cables to the connectors on each side of the new inverter. Replace the foil around the outside of the main circuit board.

5. Replace the back panel and base stand, and their retaining Phillips-head screws

When I turn on mt dv6275us laptop, I get verticle lines with a pale background. If I leave it on for a few minutes the lines change colors, I plugged in an external monitor, same thing appears on the...

Unfortunately, if this situation occurs in both the internal monitor and the external one, this is almost certainly a burned-out video card that is no longer able to output correctly. Without the hard drive the BIOS will still engage and try to boot, thus engaging the video card - but without memory, the PC will not POST, resulting in the black screen you're seeing.

This laptop will almost certainly either need to have a new video card installed or be replaced entirely.

Good luck, and hope this is helpful!

My HP dv6275us notebook has issues. It is just 3

This is something that I have have been battling for a few years now as in independent repairman for laptops and desktops. Newer CPUs take more power and as a result produce more heat, However there is a limited amount of room in a laptop to work with. Because of this computer companies have started to place a thermal pad in between the cooling pipe and the PCI computer processor. This allows less heat to be sent to the cooling pipe from the PCI and alllows more of it to be taken away from the CPU. However now they are making PCI proccessers faster and they produce alot of heat, a PCI bridge controles your memory and other deivces and is usually in league with the Hard disk and optical disk controller, It is also responsiable for supporting graphics on 90% of laptops. " very busy little chip ". The problem is that the chip gets so warm that it unsolders itslef partialy from the main board and then either resettles to make a connection, or does not work at all again. This manufactures work around is the leading death of laptops " dirty little secret, Some people can install metal spacers that will correct this and allow proper cooling or the PCI bridge, and yes HP is natorious for this problem. I recommend looking into an Asus. If you want anything repaired you may contact me, My e-mail is [email protected]

Display problem

You could have a defective screen - a defective inverter or a CCFL lamp or simply the video cable needs reseating. After reseating the video cable and the problem is still there then :- To determine if you have a LCD screen or video card problem, read this and follow the instructions. Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashs on red/pink and off. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickering on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case. The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills. Check out www.lcdparts.net for parts, repair service and DIY info.
