Removal of broken funnel assembly and installation of new one

I need to install a new funnel assembly on my LG Side by side fridge (LRSC-26922TT).

I am glad to see this post. I just called lg customer service expecting to order a $4.00 plastic funnel replacement (same model). lg changed the design of the entire funnel system. This includes the connector/frame inside the door. I had to buy the frame as well for another $13.00. However, the service call would be another $120.00.

If anyone has info on how to do this, it would be greatful. Thanks!

I had a bit of a challenge getting one of the wire housings apart and I put in the ice chute prior to putting the panel back on, so I had to remove it, put the panel back on then replace it. Good info here though. I would have been afraid to break the faceplate.

My mom is driving me nuts because i cant figure out how to fix the funnel display on our g.e. or even find out how to remove the frame.... any suggestions?

Uggggghhhh - $3 part is now somehow costing $45. How do I replace the funnel assembly? Is there an alternative to prying off the faceplate? That sounds a little risky to me.

You will need to remove the front display panel to get into the funnel frame.  Look at the bottom of the frame and you will see a little slot to slide a screwdriver in.  With your screwdriver, insert it into the hole and pry gently.  You will hear snaps and cracks as it comes apart.  It may sound like the plastic is breaking but that is normal.  Once you remove the display panel, you will see the frame and just replace it with the new one.

Thanks to CoolTech I started this fix. I was thinking just the display panel comes out. Actually the whole surround pops out. Once is heard the first "pop" I used a putty knife that was taped up so metal would not tough the outside surface of the refrig.

PULL THE POWER PLUG!!!!!!!

1) There is a disconnect on the back of the display panel. You can set aside the whole thing.
2) two brass screws hold the tray but to pull it out there is another wire disconnect. You will need a smaller phillips head screwdriver to move the lever assembly from the old frame to the new frame. The wires just tuck around the frame. Take some digital pictures before disassembly if needed.

3) reverse to put everything back together. Remember the wire to the display panel has to go throgh the big square hole on the frame.

4) to put the display panel surround back on I starte with the top and just kinda wacked the sides with my fist to "pop" everything back in.

5) Plug back in the power. Voila!!!!!!

Instead of a screwdriver I found if you use tje handy combo bottle opener/paint can opener with a cloth against the door you get a good angle to pop loose the panel

Same problem with mine. I guess I will try the screwdrive trick and hope I don't break the faceplate.

Ice door does not close on lg model # LRSC26915TT. Tried to remove panel to see behind, but after snapping it out the ice chute is preventing removal. Help with both

Hello,

The solution is for you to take out the door and try to fix it back in, that way it will solve both problem for you.

You will need to unplug the fridge or unplug the wires going to the dispenser from behind the grill at the bottom of the fridge. Pop off the front cover over the switches and pop off the soft button cover that you mash to activate the dispenser. You will see the screws that hold the dispenser assembly to the housing. remove them and the unit will slide toward you.

That way you will be able to remove the panel and assess it.

Hope this helped.

The freezer door won't stay shut, thanks for any help

Look to see if the fridge side door rises up about a quarter of an inch when you open it. If it does see if the freezer side does. If it don't you may have a door closing cam which has broken. It's on the bottom hinge, is black plastic and can be replaced without removing the door.
Leave the door shut and let the magnetic gasket hold the door in place. Put something between the bottom of the door and the floor to hold it in case it slips. Remove the bracket holding the pin and hinge assembly taking note of order of removal of parts. Slide new cams on. You probably need two.

LG LRSC26925TT ice dispensing funnel broken

Yes. But LG came out with a new frame for the funnel. So you have to order the funnel and the frame which is installed through your front control panel. Good Luck I just did it.

LG Refrigerator - I need to remove the ice disp.

The dispenser cover snaps off. Look at the bottom corners of the dispenser faceplate and you may see small slots to put a small flat bladed screwdriver inside to help pry the faceplate off. This faceplate snaps on very tightly so it may seem like there are screws holding it in place, but it only snaps in.

Once you have the faceplate off the rest will be easy as you can see what you are doing and what you have to remove.

Note, if you are replacing the funnel you need to know that this part has been updated as of OCT 2005 (stronger clips to hold it in place) and it will not snap into the older funnel frame (the part it attaches to).

If the serial number for your model starts with 510KR or lower, then you will also need the updated funnel frame part number 3210JA0006S.

Hope this helps, please rate my solution.

Lg refrigerator water dispenser would not shut off

so two things I have learned. First if the tabs on the funnel break dont buy a new one just crazy glue back in place. Also if you take the gasket out put vaseline on the nubbins and they will slide back in place without having to take the panel apart. Fix time 7 minutes. Booyah!!!

Door

Yes, LG has an updated funnel that requires the bracket to be purchased as well.
To get inside the control panel, look at the bottom edge of the control panel.  You will notice a small hole where you can slip a screwdriver in.  Gently pry open the control panel to gain access to the funnel bracket.
