RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8100 Logo

Blackberry Pearl Call Log gets deleted.

I can't view my missed calls in the call log. It tells me I have a missed call but then it doesn't show me who called. Why is it doing this? I read your previous answer to this question already and I can't see where savedwm is to set the level higher. Do I need to get a memory card? Thank you!

I'm getting the point where I find the Blackberry so problematic I'm thinking of getting rid of it. My call logs are hit and miss - here one day totally gone the next. hate it, and I have nothing stored on it, so I don't see how it could be a memory issue.

  • Anonymous May 24, 2008

I have the same problem with my call log, here one day gone the next. I am also experiencing that with my text messages. I can send them but I can't receive them. (or at least I can't see them). My phone book is gone from view. I have to start typing someone's name and their info appears in the send screen but I can' just go into my phone book as a good phone would allow me to. This stinks!

I am having the same problem, I sent in the "defective" phone and got a new one. I am again having the same problem on the new phone. So getting a new phone is not the solution only a headache entering all of your info on the new phone.

I have had numerous issues around the blackberry pearl deleting SMS texts, memory slowly deleting and a missed call icon (when no missed calls are logged) appearing.
Several B.B. forums all say to do this, to do that....but most of them all say to hard wipe your handheld. I have found that this is not always the path to persue.

I currently have too much needed info just to wipe my handheld (personal and buisness). Thru trial and error, reading forums, ect i have found a better alternative:

Step one: Click on options; scroll to and click on "Auto On/Off" and turn this on. This helps manage open applications (open applications drains memory and may cause your missed call icon to apear) - but this wil not remove the missed call icon. (set the turn off and turn on times based on your personal use - even one hour is suffecient)

Step two: (and block some time to do this): Hold your alt. key (bottom left button on the pearl keypad) and the return button (located just right of the track ball) down together. A screen will apear showing open applications. When you release the alt and return button, the highlighted icon will open (SMS , email, internet browser, ect). With the application open and running hit your B.B. button (located left of the track bar), Scroll down, highlight and click the close option.
You will need to do this for ALL applications that are open - i had (it felt like) a hundred +.

Once your applications are closed, your missed icon will dissapear.
**please note your "home screen" is an application - if your pearl RIM is on you are using memory and still will see it detete (untill the auto turn off is rebooted for what ever time you have it set) As far as the missed call icon - this will reappear if too many application are running (hint: what ever you open - SMS / email / browser/ games/ ect - you must close it ((hit blackberry button left of track ball, scroll down and click close)), just by hitting the return button ((right of track ball) or the red "hang up" key it will only minimize your application similar to windows program screen on a CPU)

In no way do i suggest a hard wipe, phone replacement - or even a swich of hand helds: I love my blackberry and wouldnt trade it for anything (maybe a B.B. storm when they are released!!). Its not perfect but it is the best hand held PDA i have owned. Once you learn how to properly manage your blackberry it will quickly become an important tool (and yes....a toy too! )

Best of luck.

ONLY KNOWN FOR TELUS USERS: It's a memory issue in most cases. If you have too many applications downloaded or too many photos/video/music, it will focus the memory more on those than your texts/calls. Try either moving your photos/movies/music to a memory card, delete the photos, etc. and then remove the card, and have a friend text or call you (don't answer the call). If that doesn't work you can try deleting some of the applications. Only ones you have bought. But, don't worry, you can get them back without paying again by going to the Telus Portal, hitting the menu button, click settings, and then purchases. Once it builds the list, you should be able to click on the application and re-download it. If none of those suggestions work, try contacting you service provider and see what they suggest.

Blackberry Pearl 8120 - sms, email and call log being deleted

On the Status screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, the File Free field indicates low ,if the device memory is full then these things will happen on your device,so to never have this problem delete unwanted applications. To delete run desktop manager and select application loader, select the applications that are not frequently used and remove them. Also keep the messages for a month or two because these mails will be there in your mail box.

Random deleting

This means that you have too much memory in your phone, so it automatically makes its own memory. To fix this you need to delete some of your pictures and ringtones to add memory. I used to have this problem too! Hope this helps!

Blackberry Pearl 8130 not showing missed calls

I had the same problem. Most likely your phone is low on memory.

1. To check how much memory you have, go to options-->status..

2. If your phone is low on memory, delete any old messages, if you use your internet browser on your phone, clear the browser history and cookies. Also, delete any programs/apps you are not using. This will free up a lot of memory.

3. You can also run memory cleaner- Go to: options-->security options-->enable cleaning and check show on home screen.. Then click the icon to run it from the home screen.
4. Try removing the phone's battery for 10 minutes, putting it back in, and restarting the phone.

when your phone memory gets low, it will delete your call log and messages to make more space. try deleting some applications and some ringtones and things that take up memory and that should fix the problem
