SOURCE: Can't find the oil drain plug on Troy Bilt with 5.5 Honda engine

You may want to look under the deck. They sometimes put them there. And if it is a self propelled, you will probably need to remove or loosen the plastic cover that protects the self propelled belt.

You are looking for a nickel sized plug that has a square peg. Use an extension piece for a socket set if you don't have the proper plug removal tool.

SOURCE: How do I clean the fuel line on troy bilt 5hp chipper vac?

unscrew the nut on the bottom of the carburetor and remove the float bowl it must be emptied and cleaned , debree and water gets into the bowl and blocks of fuel flow reinstall the bowl and start, some carbs don't have a float bowl requiring you to remove the gas tank and carb which is a more involved cleaning.

The way to move without the motor running...

1.on each wheel pull pin in center of hub
2.push wheel closer to motor.
3.put pin back in to axle but not though hub
4.do the same steps to other wheel

SOURCE: Misplaced operation manual for Troy-Bilt Briggs

Straight 30w NOT 10w-30

prefer air-cooled engine oil from mower dealers or some auto supply stores have air cooled engine oil.

Check the oil level. If it shows overfull then likely the carburetor fuel inlet needle is not closing and there's fuel in the crankcase.

I have a 18 hp briggs and stratton engine that will not start

A few more things to check.
1. The oil level. If the oil level is low the oil level sensor will ground the ignition.
2. Check the wiring from the seat safety switch to make sure it is connected.
3. Follow the black wires from the ignition control module to make sure none of them are chaffing and do not have a chassis ground.

If you still have problems disconnect ONE lead from the oil level sensor and see if you have spark. Most of the time these oil level sensors are the common failure.

Our Troy bilt lawn tractor wont start. It seems like a short

Unless something catastrophic has happen internally, fuel and spark are about all you need. If you are sure of the fuel supply, pull the spark plug lead and let it arc to ground so you can check ignition health. You should have a bright blue spark visible. If you do, then pull the plug and replace it; the insulator may be cracked and robbing some of the high voltage. If it still doesn't start, you may have flooded it and when this happens to me, I make sure no spilled gasoline is present but I then pull the plug and use a charcoal or fireplace lighter and place it in front of the sparkplug hole. It should pop and help exhaust the excess fuel.

I have a Troy-Bilt 31cc 2-Cycle Gas Powered that doesn't start

Coil bad or wire to coil bad. I tell everyone what Ill tell you, when it comes to small engines, troy bilt, poulan, weedeater brand all JUNK,JUNK JUNK! Theyre made cheap, not built to last, theyre throwaways. Carbs are made in china. If youre ever in walmart next time go back to the garden section and pick up a weedeater or poulan brand chainsaw or trimmer. Look at the package good and look at the factory life expactancy. Its not in months, not even days, but in hours. If I was you I would tell myself NO MORE! I would buy a dolmar or stihl, pay the extray, cause you wont be aggrevated in the long run. P.S. Dolmar offers a 100% coverage for ONE YEAR on all equipement.

If a branch was already being chipped when it ran out of gas...you must clear the hopper of any chunks of wood in it. Pull the plug wire and use a metal pry bar to dislodge any pieces of wood. when the flywheel runs free, put the plug wire back on and the choke on. Try it now!!!
