I have a LHD 459ELT9 dehumidifier. Is this the high or low temperature model? I am dehumidifing a root cellar and the temperature is normally about 50-55 degrees.

Mike, the LT in the model number, usually indicates that it's a low temperature model. If you root cellar has an unpaved or unfinished floor, I would highly recommend that you raise the dehumidifier at least up a foot or two, off the floor. As the ground temperature is colder than the air temperature at shoulder level. Plus, it will help keep insects and critters out of it. Use something sturdy, that can handle the weight of the unit, plus a full bucket of water. Even if you are going to use the hose drain feature, rather than the bucket, I would still get it up off the floor.

Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Thanks.

There are many reasons why a dehumidifier will not work or collect water.

Here is a tip that I wrote to help people to figure out what is going wrong with their dehumidifier

Maytag Dehumidifer still works, but is leaking

Well life span is 3-15 years depends how long and hard you run them. 45 pint is about 1000sqft basment. rule of thumbs bigger better. run less and do a better job. I would start by filling the bucket and place in a dry shower see if you have a crack. cant find a source for the bucket discontinued this might be your problem. http://www.repairclinic.com/SSPartDetail.aspx?s=t-M7DH45B2A-%3d%3di1025984&PartID=1025984 Repair cost are about 40-50 and hour!!!! good luck

I have a Goldstar GHD30 dehumidifer that I bought used last week. It's pulling 20-30 pints of water each day out of my basement so it appears to be working. The compressor only runs for 1-2 minutes at a...

yes cycles should be longer either that or the unit is keeping close to desired humidity. Also the unit is under sized 30 pint is for 400sqft. or 20 by 20 room. humidity should be 30/50 percent check your level desired room temp is 70 degrees but its a basemnt 60 works.

Dehumidifer runs for about 45sec to 1minute and then shuts off. wqhat would be making this happen

If it does that consistently, then it's likely that the compressor is overheating and shutting down. (It has a thermal overload circuit to prevent a potential fire). Another cause could be a malfunction of the control circuit board which runs all functions of the unit. To check for possible compressor problem, unplug the unit, remove the housing to expose the compressor, plug it back in and power it up. When it shuts down, feel the compressor. It should be warm to the touch, but definitely not so hot that it singes your fingers.

If you find that the compressor is just normal warm, then the control circuit board is shot and needs to be replaced. Check with the merchant or manufacturer for availability & cost. If prohibitive, you're better off simply replacing that unit with a new one.

Dehumidifier won't shut off

Well your dehumidifer runs constantly. My guess seeing how you bought a 30 pint per 24 hrs. Your house better be 400sqft. It is under sized and humidity need to be 30/50 percent to stop mold growth. It cant keep up its two small 50 pint are for 1000sqft 65 pint is 1300sqft. Upgrade now!!!!!
