R-1460 my sharp 1460 just quit...it had been working , clock etc. but when I tried to enter time, it quit. The control panel seems loose, could that be the problem? Should I just junk it, or is it fixable?

So it's dead and there's no display?

If so, have you checked the outlet and breaker?

Check fuse. Remove 3 screws from the plastic grill located at along the top front of the unit. Remove the phillips head screw above the control panel. Slide up and pull out to partially remove control panel. You will see a white fuse. Replacement is CD3G 125v 20amp or BUSS ABC 20 or Little Fuse 314020 at 250v 20a. Radio shack caries the ABC.

How to set clock on sharp microwave

normally you look for the clock ot watch icon. Pressing it once will give you the option for 24 hours setting. Press it twice and it will give you the opportunity to set to 12 hours setting. Using the no. keypad, punch in the time and then repress the clock icon again.

The clock works & counts down but the microwave won't heat

  • Disconnect the power for 30 seconds. After restoring power, do not set the clock.
  • If your model has an ON/OFF clock display, you can choose not to have the time displayed. To choose this option, press the 0 pad for about three seconds. To Turn the display back on, press the 0 again.

Touch the clock pad. Enter in the correct time of day by touching the numbers in sequence. Touch the clock pad again.

SHARP R-1460 MICROWAVE WAS USING ON A SANWICH IT DID NOT COMPLETE HEATING. NOW HAS NO POWER ON PAD ETC. OUTLET POWER IS OK

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for about 5 minutes.

Otherwise, it will need to be checked. I would suspect the magnetron thermostat, cavity thermostat and fuse.

Sharp microwave

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount (which are pretty simple problems to fix) or occasionally a problem on the control panel.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside. Its continuity must be checked.

Door switch or mount trouble can be caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

One test that sometimes helps is to gently lift up (and/or push down) on the door or handle as you try to start it. If it works or tries to work, then it's a door switch mount or door alignment issue.

Makes a loud humming sound and blows fuse behind controll panel

Most likely a shorted capacitor is causing the fuse to blow. Easy and cheap to fix.
