Start up in safe mode by pushing the f8 key on startup this will give you networking capabilities then follow these instructions

Hijackthis is a first line tool to examine certain areas of the computer. It does not show everything and lots of malware is hidden from it

To download Hijackthis

go to http://www.merijn.org/programs.php and download 'Hijack This!' self installer. Save it to the desktop or other suitable place. DO NOT just press run from the website Double click on the file and it will install to C:\program files\hijackthis and create an entry in the start menu.
Click on the entry in start menu to run HijackThis
Click the "Scan" button, when the scan is finished the scan button will become "Save Log" click that and save the log.
Go to where you saved the log and click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" then Paste the log back here in a reply.
It will possibly show issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required,
so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

It sweeps forever but hangs up at about file/folders 20, 076. I can't stop it. I reboot and then set it not to sweep, it does it anyway. I can't delete it in task manager either.

When software does weird things like this, my first thought is to uninstall it and then reinstall it.
Do not run any other spyware software at the same time.

I was sweeping my computer and the sweep froze when nearly finished and I can't get it to turn off or do anything.

Try pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del, clicking task manager, then the processes tab and right click the one for Spy Sweeper and click end process. Then start the program again. If all else fails, try restarting your computer. If this happens every time you run the sweep, uninstall and reinstall the program.

My start menu button and task bar is missing what shall i do :(

Don't worry you can solve it very easily.
Please just follow the below steps and you will fix it.

1 . If you are moving your mouse cursor all the way down (or wherever you have placed your task bar by default), but it won't show up, try pressing the Window key, typically found between the CTRL and the Alt keys. You can also press CTRL+Esc and achieve the same result. If your Start menu pops up after performing either action, this is your chance to manually re size your Windows task bar, as you had probably minimized it by accident.

2 . In case the above step does not fix the issue, try launching the Task Manager by pressing CTRL+Alt+DEL. In the window that pops up, go to the File menu, click on New Task, and type "Explorer" or "Explorer.exe", without the quotes. This action will basically restart the main shell that allows you to see your desktop icons, launch the task bar and initiate most of the visualizations you see on your Operating System. If this does not do the job, let's move onto step three.

3 . Try simply restarting the computer, as this may be as well caused by an old, sluggish system begging to be restarted for various reasons.

4 . Now, if none of the above have worked, you may be forced to run an anti virus and spy ware application. It is recommended that you launch these programs from Safe Mode by simply pressing the F8 key while your computer is booting up (right before the Windows logo shows up on the screen). Some viruses and spyware are known to alter your system in strange ways, so cleaning it may be an appropriate solution, as you have nothing to lose by trying.

5 . If all else fails, you may have to resort to repairing Windows through your Windows disc. During this repair, all of your data/documents will be left intact, while Windows attempts to fix any system error or damage found.

Thanks .

My toshiba tempro laptop doesnot shows anything on desktop including start menu and task bar. What shall i do now? How to scan my laptop for viruses on-line ?

1. Start the Computer in Last Known Good configuration by pressing the f8 key at startup.
2. Press CTRL+DEL+ALT key to get the Task Manager and click on File--->New Task and type explorer and check you can get the Task bar.
3. You can try performing the System Restore either in Safe Mode or in Normal mode(if task manager opens).
4. In the Task Manager, New Task enter %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe and try to restore the computer to last known good configuration.
5. if the Computer works in Safe Mode, you can install any anti virus or spy ware removal software and scan for virus/spy ware.
6. You can repair or reinstall the OS.

Icons and start upmenu bar absent

explorer.exe is what displays the icons and the startup bar on the screen so try opening explorer.exe from the task manager. Or if it is already running close it and then reopen it.

My computer screen continues to pop-up a balloon that states "you have a security problem." How can it be fixed?

Its seems like you have infected with spy ware of sometype. first of all look at the task bar, I am sure there is a yellow triangle or something similar with a ! mark on it, if try to close it, it wont give you that option. So first of all, turn on windows defender download the updates and run the spyware check. IF this does not help get a antivirus/antispyware s/w and run it. Lets see how that goes.
