Inside in the scanner section have a too much ash on the mirrors. You need to disassembly the scanner, then the scanner section and clean the ash from mirrors.Other way is replace the scanner section.
caroljust, The 'scan to' is a message that the scanner is saying ' I do not know where to scan this document to, that is, what program. I suggest you turn it off and turn it on again and it may reset to the default setting, otherwise you have to go into some softwear that came with that psc 750 and work with the softwear and ask it to scan from taht hp softwear from the computer. I have seen other HP scanner/printers with very similar problems in our shop. On many of them it is caused by dirty scanner glass or dirty mirrors. We have a tech page with step by step cleaning that should help you. You can find it at www.ccl-la.com I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

My hp psc 750 will print from my computer, but I cannot make a copy. It keeps saying, "Scanne Failure. Turn off and on again." I have done this several times and it still will not make a copy.
A friend of mine had a HP printer (Not a PSC 750) that he had simply plugged into his computer and was able to print properly but received the "options not set" message when he tried to scan.
The solution was to install the HP driver package for his printer.
If you are using the default Windows drivers for your printer you may need to install the HP driver package to access all of your printers functions.
