After self-cleaning, E1 F5 shows and the door will not unlock on my Kenmore 665.95179300

  • denisenelson Feb 27, 2009

Out of the blue my oven beeped and the E1 F5 came up on the display followed by the E0 F3. The fan turned on and would not shut off. I finally turned the circuit breaker off to stop it. What is this all about?

SOURCE: tried to selfclean my NEW oven but get error message F5E1

Reading all the questions and responses - I had the same problem (would press "self clean", it would run for less then a minute then give the error message), so once I saw the code was E5F1 and what it meant (thanks for whoever posted that), I just pressed on the door for the first minute of the cycle, and self-cleaning then worked. Go figure :)

SOURCE: Self Cleaning Oven beeping and reading FSEO

Go in the back of the oven and there should be a tech sheet in a plastic bag. It will tell you what that code means. I assume it's a problem with the lock and switch mechanism. See what the code says it is

How do I find out what FSE1 or F5E1 means on my oven display

If your oven is by Whirlpool (or from that family), the F5E1 error code indicates that the door lock mechanism is damaged, lock motor isn't working or the sensor can't tell if the door is locked. Did you try to do a self-cleaning cycle on the oven recently? Can you open the oven door? Look at the lock mechanism near the top of the door jamb in the oven and check whether the latch move freely from left to right and back. If the oven door is locked, you open the back panel and try to manually move the lock mechanism to open the door.

Please add a comment with the model of the oven for further assistance. The model number will be on a plaque on the oven frame for most models.

I hope this helps.

What is the solution if my oven beeps?

Hello friend, thank you for your inquiry!

I understand that your door is locked and you have error "F5E1" showing on your range. I would perform a reset on your appliance which can be done by flipping the household circuit breaker off for roughly ten minutes. If that does not correct the issue and you continue to receive the error "F5E1" I would contact a professional to come out and repair your appliance because it could be an issue within your UIB (user interface board) or main control panel. Hopefully this helps. -Matt

I HAVE A WHIRLPOOL MODEL NUMBER RF368LXKQ RANGE AND WHEN I TRY THE SELF CLEAN BUTTON I GET F5E1 WHAT IS THE PROBLEM

Hello,

The F5E1 error codes means that the door light switch OR a switch on the self clean latch has failed. If the oven light comes on and goes off when the door is opened and closed it most likely going to be a switch on the latch thats the problem.

The part numbers are;

DOOR LATCH W10107830

LIGHT SWITCH 3195993

I used the self clean cycle and it has cooled off now getting error F5E1 and won't unlock? Please help. I use my oven almost daily!!

F5-E1 is a door lock error. Depending on the extent of the error, a hard reset may recycle the door lock and allow you to use the oven. Turn off power to the oven for 2 to 5 minutes and then turn the power back on. Give the oven about 2 to 3 minutes to possibly reset.

If the error code returns, there a few different problems you may have.
  1. The door latch mechanism could be broken or shorted
  2. The may be a pinched or shorted wire
  3. The Oven Control Unit may be bad
If further assistance is needed, please submit the brand and model # of your oven

Oven door is locked and won't open

Sorry to hear the "self clean" Gremlins are at it again. Several things have happened, none good. During the cycle at full power for several hours, a circuit on the control board has failed. Various errors are now keeping functions from occurring normally, although sometimes door switches fail causing similar anomalies. At any rate 'self clean' eventually becomes 'self-destruct'. Boards run 150-300$ . Hope info helps- Thanks-ED

Whilrpool Self Cleaning Range Door won't unlock

try this 1. Verify error code by pressing and holding CANCEL/OFF key for 5 seconds.
Momentarily (less than 5 sec.) press CANCEL key again to remove error code
display.
2. Press and hold any key for 1 minute until F2 E0 code is displayed.
3. Cancel F2 E0 error code.
4. Program and start the clean mode. Observe to see if door locks. If it does not,
inspect the locking mechanism from the solenoid to the latch pawl and door to
find the cause of the problem. If the door is not locking, then 1 minute from the
start of clean, the F5 E1 code will again be displayed. Steps 1 through 3 will
have to be repeated before another clean can be started.
5. Once any mechanical problems with the latch mechanism have been corrected,
program and start a clean cycle (after, if necessary, clearing F5 E1 error code)
to ensure proper operation of the door lock. Immediately cancel the clean mode to observe proper operation of door unlock
