My printer is not printing out any black ink onto paper. Only the color is printing out onto paper. I put two brand new cartridges in for the black ink and color ink, and it says that the ink levels are completely full, but the black ink still will not print onto any paper. I've tried pulling out the black ink cartridges and repeating the process but it still will not print black ink.

You need to take it a couple steps further after your test print. Sounds like your print heads need cleaning or your cartridge may need aligning. It’s best to do this each time you install a new cartridge. for more information….... http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-40171-printer-not-printing-black

My printer isn't printing from the black ink cartridge -only color. I've replaced the black ink cartridge twice, so I know it isn't the cartridge.

Run a few "print-head-cleaning-cycles", to UNCLOG the ink-jets that should be spraying the black ink onto the paper.

Black printer ink in HP Printer may fail to be recognized by the printer. Most times an error message will be sent indicating that something is wrong with the black print cartridge. Sometimes the printer may accept to print with the black ink, but the printouts may have horizontal lines and very illegible letters. In such a case a manual cleaning of the print head should be carried out. In doing the manual cleaning, one should spray Windex heavily on paper towel and wipe off the surface of the print head.

New HP 56 cartridge prints green

hello, are you sure its green, since this is a black in cart, only thing i can think of is machine not printing black , and the color ink cartridge is contaminated, this would be due to the docking area for the cartridge, on the left side of machine, there are 2 black rubber cups that the ink cartridges move over to seal. sometimes these cups have residual ink, which will contaminate the new inks. clean these black cups, and replace inks

Ink cartridge

Try pressing the new cartridge onto a damp paper towel. Look for all colors to make a streak on the towel, if any color or black is missing it won't pass alignment. It won't pass alignment or let you print until you get all the colors working.

I just installed a brand new HP 17 color cartridge in my HP deskjet 845c (as it appeared that the old one had run out of pink and yellow color) and now the new one will only print out in blue. I took out...

One of the first things I would do is called "footprinting" the cartridge. Remove the cartridge from you machine and firmly press the bottom of the cartridge, the print head, onto a paper towel. Use your other hand to apply even pressure from underneath the paper towel. This, hopefully, will cause ink to bleed out of the cartridge and onto the paper towel. Be aware that you may get ink on you and take measures to prevent it if necessary. A good footprint from that cartridge should yield three small rectangles of the three colors in the cartridge, it is ok if they bleed into each other. If cyan is the only color flowing you can try moistening the paper towel with some warm distilled water and gently holding this against the print head for a short while (30 sec), again ink should come out. If there the cyan is still the only color to flow there is nothing more you can do at home. Return the cartridge if you can.

If however all three colors footprint well then it may be a driver and/or firmware issue with the printer. I would try reinstalling the driver first, then upgrading the firmware is an upgrade is available. Those machine are getting older and probably do not have as much support available as newer machines do.

I can't get my black ink to print.

Could be the ink dried up. Unusual but happens sometimes. If you shake it does it sound like liquid in it?

If you recently replaced the cartridge, did you remember to take the tape off? (I know, sounds silly, but sometimes it happens.)

In the software, does it register that there's a blank ink cartridge installed?

Just a couple of ideas to get you going. Respond back and I'll work more with you.

Printer stopped printing colour

Are you using Name brand ,new ink cartridges?
Take the color cartridges out and make sure you removed the tape from the bottom of those cartridges. if done already take a wet paper towel and squeeze out the excess water, then lay the damp paper towel folded in half on a flat surface.
Then set the colored in cartridges one at a time with the ink side pressing against the damp paper towel for about 3 min. after 3 min you should see the ink drain on to the paper towel if so then replace the cartridge back into the printer and that should solve your problem.

Balck ink not working

This is what worked (so far) with my Dell1.gif AIO A940 printer1.gif that wouldn't print black ink.

It worked for awhile when I chose photo/glossy paper, but then it quit printing again (see below).

PRINT, PROPERTIES, PAPER SETUP, SPECIALTY PAPER, PHOTO/GLOSSY

I got it to print, again, by putting SEVERAL papers in the feeder (instead of just 1) - there is a sensor that is supposed to automatically detect paper type, and it might not be working right, especially with one or only a couple of sheets.
