"Fill System/Press Steam"

I have already seen this problem posted but no solution.  I try to get a cup of coffee and it grinds...drops maybe 2 drops of coffee...then says "Fill System/Press Steam" even though water and beans are full.  I pressed steam....tried again...and the same thing happened.  It seems to me I read somewhere that there are some special contacts that need to be cleaned....deep inside the compartment where the water/coffee ground tray goes...but, I cannot find anything about it.  Please help...I'm dying for a cup of coffee!

mnual suggests checking foaing divice ln the water container. see to me that it was ok, but still getting same message "fill system"

I have the same proplem and additionally the rinse button does not work properly. Water comes out the steam nozzle, and not through the cofee spouts. I can get steam and a tea portion, but nothing from the coffee spouts. My low water indicator is fine and there are no stuck beans. It seems to be like there is a blockage in the water getting to the coffee spout. Any thoughts on how to fix this? I have an older C3000.

Was getting Fill System/Press Steam message every couple of brews. Coffee was trickling from spout. Followed Brainctr's suggestion below about cleaning the screen and that took care of it. Thanks alot!

Remove the tray at the front of the machine. Look inside and you will see a rubber flap which separates the right and left side of the machine. Gently lift this to the right and look inside to the left (a small mirror like from a womans compact and a flashlight will help you see in there.) You will find a small circular screen (about the size of a half dollar.)  You need to wipe ALL the coffee grinds off of this screen. That should fix the problem. If you use dark beans, you are probably grinding them to fine and some of the oily residue is sticking to this screen. Try grinding the dark beans more coarsely. Only change the grinder WHEN IT IS GRINDING by adjusting the litlle knob in the box where you place the beans. If the problem started just after changing the filter you may have air in the water line and it needs to be flushed. Try running the tea portion hot water until it clears. These suggestions were given to me by Capresso and actually worked for my machine. Good luck. Gary

I had this problem "If the problem started just after changing the filter" and noticed no water was leaving the tank. I took the new filter out and compared the water flow through the old to the new and the water flowed easily from the outer input area to the inner output area in the old filter but no water flow at all through the new filter. I put the old filter back in and all the problems went away. Could my new filter be defective? It was a new clearyl filter for my S9.

My wife and I had a similar problem. She cleaned the 2 nozzles where the coffee comes out with household vinegar and it works.

By the way I forgot to mention my wife also took the trays out and cleaned the coffee grounds with a paper towel. Our machine is a Jura F9. Good luck everyone

Melissa Write's solution to the "fill water" problem in her post of 28 December failed to shift the float in my water tank, But I found that emptying the tank and blowing warm air into the tank from a hairdryer then giving the tank a smart tap next to the float dislodged the stuck float in a couple of minutes.

80-90C hot water pours to the water tank, press steam and let go through the cycle when the next "press Steam" appears again, press and go through again. (Re-cycle hot water in a microwave oven). It takes like 5-7 minutes of "Fill System" & "Press Steam" exercise to clean up. It works now.

The system seems to get into this mode when it wants you to empty the steam chamber. If press steam does not clear the area, and no steam is coming out, the frother is blocked. You have to disassemble it down to the pipe - pull off the frother, the trim which hides the pipe, and reveal a plastic piece which is screwed on. Remove this plastic piece and the machine should steam properly. Clean or replace the plastic piece - you should see daylight through a pinhole in it.

I removed the water tank, took out the filter and shook as much water as I could out of the filter. The idea being to access any place flow could be restricted to the system. I replaced the filter, and filled the tank with hot water from the faucet. I don't recommend water hotter than that.
I cleaned the inside of the unit as best I could with long cotton swabs (the wooden type) and damp paper towels. Amazing how much gunk gets trapped inside there. I also made sure the tip of the steam port was not clogged.
I replaced everything and hit the steam button. It sputtered at first. The second time I pushed the steam button, everything started working correctly.
I'm an engineer but not a coffee machine repairman. But I think the hot water will help eliminate any air bubbles that might be blocking water flow. Good luck if you have this problem.

On mine, I found that the black float in the water container (in an oblong plastic box near the place where the water goes into the system) wasn't floating anymore thus making the system think that the water was empty. I had never cleaned the container (oops) so I took the reservoir off and poured vinegar and soap in it. That dislodged the float and I was able to fill the system by pressing the steam button. Then just for good measure, I ran the vinegar through the system. Works like a charm again. I think it's making more creame now -- It may be my imagination.

There was a little device that looks like a clear plunger that came with the S9 ... I've never used it, but it fits perfectly on top of the water intake on the side of the machine (with the water container removed).  I just have to figure out whether it is to ... push water in ... push air in ... or what.  Unfortunately, the manual came on CD ... and the version I have is for Mac OS 9, which I can't any longer open under the new OS.
Anyone have a user's guide that can tell us how to use the plunger?

Coffee is too weak

Hi there,
I just spoke to someone at customer service. My coffee has been weak and kind of thin. We had the Superautomatica by Saceo for years and I remembered the coffee being richer.
Anyway! The person suggested that I adjust the grind but slowly. So set it to the coarsest setting, brew 2-3 cups. Then put it to the 2nd-coarsest setting, brew 2-3 cups. To the third, brew 2-3 cups. To the forth, brew 2-3 cups. Etc. Until you're at the finest grind setting. Again, brew 2-3 cups. An awfully sensitive machine. It seems to have worked although the last few seconds of brewing continue to be a kind of milky colour (as opposed to a deep black coffee colour). You can, though, press the "cup" button to stop the brew. So once, it starts running milky, you can stop the cycle.
I hope this helps. I know I've been struggling and cursing the machine for a while :)

Trying to self-prime like the directions say. Water is coming out extremely slow. How long should it take to fill cup? The steam wand seems to work perfect with plenty of water coming out.

Hi
If you are doing it right and using the double shot filter basket, with the correct amount of coffee, with the right grind and tamp. You should not get anything, for about 5 seconds after you turn the pump on, and it should take between 25 and 35 seconds for an 1 1/2 oz to 2 oz of espresso.

Jura S9 coffee machine not drawing water - says FILL SYSTEM

I think the magnetic valve is defective. This is located on the left side (seen from behind inside the machine) and there`s connections between the thermoblock and the hot water outlet. Try to press the steambutton and check if the magnetic valve clicks, and maybe check with a voltmeter if it`s receiving power.

PS. During steamprocessing the pump just have small ticking sound, and not the same sound as during brewing. There is no way around this Fill system message, and the reset function is not activated until any System Messages has been clared.

Royal Professional machine

Hi,

try to set the grinder to grind little more coarse, you have to make 2-3 cup to get the new settings to work.

To get off the ventilate you have to press the button for hot water and make a cup of water.

Hope this will help you.

My Vev Vigano Kontessa 12 cup espresso maker does not work properly

I had the same problem, so I embarked on a search mission. Here's what I found, and it worked for me. First, these pots are designed to work only for the amount of water specified for each size. So I have a 6 cup pot that requires 9 oz of water. If I try to put 8 oz. of water, I only get about 1 maybe 2 oz of coffee. Size of the grind doesn't matter as long as you stick to espresso grind (some coffee grinders have several settings for espresso grind). As soon as I put exact amount of water, it works much better. Now, you have to understand that some water gets evaporated as steam, and some water should remain in the boiler section of the pot for safety reason. The general advice is to take the pot off the burner as soon as the gurgling sound reaches its peak and just starts to subside.
That may result (as least for me) in weaker coffee than I like. So what I do, is I fill the coffee funnel with coffee grinds, tamp it very lightly, and then using a wooden skewer I make 3 or 4 holes all the way to the bottom of the funnel. That will help the steam to escape. Before I learned this trick, I thought it was a valve problem or a seal problem. As soon as I tried this trick, bingo! I personally like strong coffee. So I didn't want to compromise it and start adding less coffee to the funnel. The thing is that steam wets and expands coffee grinds, and that may be enough to hinder the process. If you make several holes, steam will not be building in the boiler section and escaping thrgough the valve or break the seal on the gasket.
Hope this helps.
