When I hook up my xbox 360 to a floor model flat screen that is probably 7 or 8 years old, there is sound but no picture. When we hook it up to our newer model flat screen everything works fine. Can you tell me what may be the issue with the floor model tv? Or is there a particular way you have to hook it up with an older tv?

    I only know they are the wires that came with it. When we hook it up tot he tv that works with it on, we set the tv on component 2. Probably dont support 720 but it is a 52 inch tv so I dont know.

    What colour are your wires? Yellow and red/white? Or blue, green, red and red/white?

    There are 6 wires, 2 red and a white, a blue, a yellow, and a green.

Are you trying to use HD? Component cables or HDMI? Component cables limit you to 720p. It's possible that your old TV doesn't support 720p or there is something wrong with the jacks. What sort of connections do you have?

    Don't use the yellow one. Were you hooking it up, previously?

Phillips HDTV turns off when we turn the XBOX 360 on.
More than likely this is a trigger from the HDMI cable which can be disabled in the tv or xbox settings. To check, hook the xbox up to the tv with RCA cable that is supplied with the xbox and see does it turn the tv off it probably wont happen when connected like so.

double check the component cables it could be the wires are just loose a black screen with sound usually means the green one is unplugged

Assuming it is hooked up correctly, it is probably the power supply, why don't you call Microsoft for possible warranty repair. Even if it's over a year old call them anyway.

Your console has the RROD, it needs to be reflowed by a PROFESSIONAL, not some kid with a heat-gun!!! It is IMPOSSIBLE to repair a BGA with a heat-gun!!

The good news it that it can be repaired Permanently with a
proper X clamp mod , The hardware responsible (The X clamp)

Sound but no picture
On some av cables for the Xbox 360 there is a switch on the cable itself where it plugs into the Xbox that must be in the correct position. I hope this helps you.

change the plug on the back of your xbox 360 from hd to tv unless of course your tv is hd then change it to hd :]
