do you have the correct drivers downloaded for scanning? go to this page http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Lookup?h_pagetype=s-001&h_lang=en&h_client=s-s-r2515-1&h_cc=us&h_query=HP+Photosmart+C4200+All%2din%2dOne+Printer+series and find your printer and go throught the diagnostics tool, it wil fix it for you
This is a HP hardware/software error and HP has not fixed it.
The
C4250 may report that "USB is not connected" but the printer works just
fine and when you use the Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard to carry
out a scan, it works just fine too. So the error message is wrong.
The Microsost Scanner and Camera Wizard can be found on the Control Panel.
a connection without a driver isn't complete go to www.hp.com select the product , search for the drivers and than it will by BOG not only bong but also scan and print
I had the same problem. The thing is I was pressing the scan button on the printer and getting the lovely "USB not connected" message. However, if you open the printer icon in the dock (Mine is "HP Photosmart C4200 series") and click the Scanner button in the upper right hand corner, then click "New Scan," voila! presto! and all is right with the world again.
Yes, it is obnoxious that HP made a defective scanner button, and I may download the driver again when I get a chance. But yay for quick fixes!
