I had everything chilled like I thought I needed to. Freezer bowl was in freezer overnight. Coconut sorbet ingredients (cooked coconut milk, shredded coconut, sugar) were thoroughly chilled - also overnight. Ran the freezer for 50 minutes. Still had soup, although it was delicious soup. What might be the problem?
Didn't freeze after 40 mins so far not very happy with this machine.Didn't freeze after 40 mins so far not very happy with this machine.

All the proper ingredients for vanilla ice cream - shook the freezer bowl to make sure it was completely frozen, it was, the mixture still didn't freeze after 25 minutes - tried another 25 minutes - nothing. What am I doing wrong?

Jump to Ice Cream Maker Using Ice - This type of freezing process is known as a "stir ... Place the covered ice cream can in the bucket, making sure it is ...
Dec 30, 2010 - Is a couple of hours in the freezer enough, or do I need to wait until tomorrow morning? ... This really depends on your freezer and your icecream bowl. Usually ... How to clean ice from ice cream maker bowl without thawing?
Before using the first time: 1. Remove all of the packaging. 2. Wash the parts. (the paddle & the bowl only) 3. Eight hours in advance, place the inner bowl into a freezer. 4. Prepare the ice cream or sorbet mix (see recipe ideas) Allow the mix to cool in the refrigerator. FYI, I freeze the inner bowl overnight instead of the eight hours as stated in the manual. Good luck!
Your freezer is not cold enough. I had a heck of a time with this machine the first few attempts, when I was in storing it in my main freezer (less cold than the one in my garage). Then i froze the bowl in my garage freezer - it is set to below 32 degrees Farenheit and is designed for long-term storage (gives anything I put in it major freezer burn). When the freezer is set to a low enough temperature, you will find that even 14 minutes is plenty of time to acheive the desired ice cream consistency in the ICE-45 (without having to pre-chill the ingredients).
Other things to check:
Make sure you are using heavy whipping cream and not half-and-half or other substitute.
Make sure that you wait until you are ready to pour the ingredients into the bowl BEFORE taking the bowl out of the freezer.
It depends upon which techniques you are using to make an ice cream.
If you are using a maker to make an ice cream then it will take hardly 30 to 45 minutes, not more then that.
For making a delicious ice cream right amount of ingredients should be added and should be mixed in a proper way, if it is not mixed in an appropriate manner then possibly you will not get the real taste that exactly you want.
If it is not freezing, I would suspect you didnt use enough salt. Salt melts the ice and makes the water colder. You need lots of ice, the finer crushed the better, and salt. Do not bleed off the cold water, that is where the action is.
The freezer bowl is sensitive. Go ahead and thaw it out until you can hear the liquid swishing around inside - usually letting warm water run through it is sufficient for thawing. Then refreeze the bowl, making sure the bowl is sitting flat/level in the freezer. When making ice cream with this unit, letting the freezer bowl sit out for even 20 minutes can unfreeze it enough so that you only get sludge. Do not remove the freezer bowl until you are immediately ready to pour the ingedients into the bowl. You can even pre-chill your ingredients by letting the ingredients sit in the freezer for about 15 minutes - although I have found that this usually has the opposite effect of what you have just experienced --> the ingredients usually freeze up so fast that the mixing paddle is no longer able to turn.
I have the same problem, but it seems that it has gotten worse with time. When I first bought this product 6 years ago it worked fine, now the bowl won't freeze entirely and it has been in the freezer for two days (at the lowest freezer setting). I am wondering if the freezer bowl has a life span.
Preparing the Freezer Bowl: The freezer bowl must be completely frozen before you begin your recipe. The length of time needed to reach the frozen state depends on how cold your freezer is – for best results, place the bowl to the rear of your freezer where it is coldest. In general, freezing time is between 6 hours and 22 hours. To determine whether the bowl is completely frozen, shake it. If you do not hear liquid moving, the cooling liquid is frozen. For the most convenience, leave your freezer bowl in the freezer at all times so you can take it out any time for immediate use.
Features and Benefits:
Freezer Bowl – The double insulated freezer bowl contains a cooling liquid between the bowl walls to create fast and even freezing. In general, the required freezing time of the bowl is 6 to 22 hours before use. Additional freezer bowls are available separately for making double batches or different flavors without interruption. For additional information on preparing the freezer bowl for use, please see below.
Base and Motor Unit – The base contains a heavy-duty motor that is strong enough to handle everything from thick, rich ice creams to smooth frozen yogurts to slushy frozen drinks . The base unit features a generously sized on/off switch, rubber feet to prevent slipping and keep the unit stationary while in use as well as cord storage to keep counters neat and safe when the unit is not is use.
Lid with Ingredient Spout – The easy-lock, transparent lid secures to the base with a simple turn, allowing you to watch the freezing process as it progresses. An ingredient spout at the top of the lid is generously sized for pouring in ingredients and ideal for adding nuts, fresh fruit, candy pieces and more without interruption the freezing cycle.
Mixing Arm – The mixing arm mixes and aerates your frozen desserts and drinks, incorporating and blending all ingredients thoroughly.
Instruction/Recipe Book - The included instruction and recipe booklet helps you get started with over 30 recipes and variations for ice creams, sherbets, sorbets, frozen yogurts and frozen drinks.

It sounds to me like everything should work, but you put something in the ingredients which affected the result - salty or hard or softened water might be a problem - also insufficient rinsing of any detergent you might have used.
try different ingredients.
Also get a thermometer and check the temperature of your freezer - the problem may be that the freezer is only hitting a couple of degrees below zero celcius. about -8c or more should be enough for your ice cream maker, more is better for your frozen food check your freezer manual for details - please post again if you need this.
Hope this helps :)
