I have experienced this type of problem before. But what I did was to install an Avira Anti-virus on a system using windows xp and eventually it did open.
So you can try it as well or insert your flash into any another system that had a strong anti-virus which can enable you scan/format the drive.
Assuming that you are using windows, go to drive management and see if the pendrive is detected. If so, right-click on it and format it. Or look for the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool and use it.
You can try using another usb port, or it might be that other things conncected to the usb are interfering with it. Try disconnecting things attatched to other usb ports (check in the back of the computer) but be sure that they're not important before you go ripping out cords.
first insert your sandisk pendrive. Now right click on my computer.Go to manage option . select disk management. From that you must select your drive letter for your pen drive.Go to Action menu near to File menu.Fromthat select all tasks and select formatting. Then again goto all tasks and select change drive letter and paths.select the drive letter and your problem is solved. thanks for asking your problem.
