SOURCE: what is the oil to fuel mix ratio for a 1974
I seem to remember that they were oil injection, and had a tank seperate for oil, but...32:1 will work if it's pre-mix, just jet the carburator to match that and you will be fine.
SOURCE: what is the float height
hi, looking in my manual for that year of bike, there is no mention of the float level, however normaly the float height of a constant depresion carburettor such as this is 27mm, this can be checked by holding the carburetor vertical with the air filter side facing up then slowly invert it until the float is just resting on the needle and not compressing,it.measure the distance between the gasket face of the carburettor and the bottom of the float. the fuel level can also be checked by using a lengthh of clear fuel pipe fitted to the drain at the bottom of the float chamber, undoing the drrain screw with the fuel pipe turned upwards toward the slide the fuel will climb up the pipe and show the present level,
SOURCE: TTR 90 wont start. Not carb. Not CDI. Plug cap?
Every component plays a part in the ignition system. Check the wiring as you go. Start at one end and move forward. You have done a lot of work so far. so you should be close. If the igniter is fine and the other components too. Then it would narrow it down to an electrical problem or no signal/pulse to the coil. See if the coil is receiving that pulse. you can use a test light for this test. Pos. will be power and NEG. will be the pulse. With light on the NEG. crank the engine over and see if it flashes. Let me know how its going.
SOURCE: the wires going to the voltage regulator keep burning up.
Common problem with poor quality parts, the regulator is the problem, the generator is working other wise you would not have fried the wiring, you answered your own question. someone telling porkies to get more money from unsuspecting client?
The regulator controls the voltage not the generator, the generator only supplys the voltage it cannot overcharge unless the regulator is not working properly, simple!
SOURCE: wire connector between stator & voltage reg/rectifier burnt
your voltage/reg. can be tested in a couple different ways check ground res. check res. then revs. bias on diodes you have ac in dc out it sounds like you may have a diode gone bad allowing ac curent to flow causing the wires to get hot
