Go to the device manager (right click my computer - properties - hardware tab - device manager button)

look under sound devices, if there are any yellow question marks you need the approprate sound driver device driver, go to the manafacturers website for it, or find the original utility disks that came with the laptop to re-install the driver

if it has its drivers, check the sound devices in sound options (control panel - sounds and audio devoces) and make sure the playback device is set to the default and hasent been changed to something that is no longer connected to the laptop.

I have the x1 turtle beaches plugged in but i cant hear anything. There just isnt any sound coming out except for a little buzzing.
Try the X1 on your PC or laptop to check if it's working OK. if you can hear fine on the PC, then there's nothing wrong with the headset and you should check the XBOX connections or RCA splitter cable.

1.make sure volume is turned up in system and by external volume.

Put your hand by the exhaust, if you cant feel air at all, the fan might need replaced, if you barely feel anything, it may just be clogged, try blowing it out with compressed air.

well either it doesnt have i mic built in or its been broken or filled with dirt so no 1 can hear you. do you now where the mic is positioned on the laptop if so try cleaning it and if it doesnt work you might have to buy a mic to plug into it.
