Hotpoint nvl333gyoww gas dryer's timer stopped working and ran for an extended length of time (about a day). After looking over the dryer, i noticed that during the no heat cycle the timer would work. So I started the regular heat cycle; after five minutes i checked the cycle and found that the dryer was heating the clothes. So, I came back an hour later to find that there was no heat once again. Could you help me identify the problem? Thanks.

The timer : if you use time dry the timer should always move and complete the cycle. if you use auto dry the timer uses a sensor to tell the timer to move. If your not getting any heat your sensor might not tell the timer to move.

So lets start with the no heat problem. First make sure your Vent is clear or just disconnect the vent and put a pair of womans stocking over the end to keep the dust down, This will ensure you do not have a blocked vent. ((( If you have a blocked vent on a gas dryer the safty sensor will shut off the gas valve and you will only get a little bit of heat))) Now try the dryer for small load, ((( if this solved your problem then you have a cloged vent )))

If this did not solve your problem then the coils on your gas valve in the dryer are probably bad.

Hotpoint VTDOO dryer works but timer does not move and no reverse

sounds like you may have a timer with the contacts sticking closed at certian intervals. or a bad pcb check visual inspection of PCB look for burns or bulges, on the diodes or capcitors, Ihave in the past taken timers apart and fixed sticking contacts by sanding with emery cloth.

My Whirlpool Inglis Model IED4400SQ0 dryer just stopped. The fuse is fine. I think the problem might be in the start button but I'm not sure. I think this is it because the dryer stopped 2 days ago, then...

this doesn't have a board in it so you either have a bad timer or motor,i would think it would be the timer, try tapping on the timer with a screw driver or something light or wiggle the timer knob and see if it starts, also did you have this on timed dry?it sounds like the timer died and then somehow power went through it again and it ran,the timer controls how long the dryer will run so this is why i think it could be the timer,or a broken wire but try wiggling the knob and see if it starts.let me know thanks.

Hotpoint nvl333gyoww gas dryer heats for a few minutes, then no heat. Seals appear fine, door latch appears fine, not sure what it could be - suggestions? Thanks.

here are a few reasons that you will get heat for a few min and then no heat.

1. if the vent is cloged, anywhere in the flexable hose to the wall or from the wall to outside. If the vent is cloged the flame in the unit will widen and the thermostat hi limit will shut she burner off untill it cools.
2. The coils for the burner could be bad and will allow the burner to light a couple of cycles and then will get hot and internaly disconect the coil untill it cools down and then will repeat and will get worse over time.

The good news :) The ignitor is good if it lights a flame, If the flame burns for more that 10 sec then the flame switch is mostlikley good. The main valve in most cases will also be good.

Im using Model # NVL333GY0WW

The timer on my Hotpoint dryer doesn't work

More than likely the timer.  If it works automatic and timed it is definitely the timer.  You can usually find them on ebay with a decent warranty, or depending on how much confidence you have in your mechanical ability take the timer apart, look for the burned contacts, clean them with sandpaper and bend them SLIGHTLY.

Hotpoint Aquarius TDL30 tumble dryer timer not advancing

fmw76:

This could be a timer issue or a thermostat.
If you are using a timed dry it would be timer .
If you are using an auto dry cycle it would possibly be a thermostat.
