Without seeing the exact connections for each device, i'm going to have to guess. But you should be able to connect your VCR to either your tv directly or to your DVD player. Remember you will need to use the "input" button on your TV or DVD player remote to switch from cable tv to your VCR and back.

you will have no problems if you connect your apex dvd directly to your tv even if your tv is standard analog

Your TV hopefully supportsw more then one unit connecting to it. if not you will need to use an input on one of your units (direct tv unit or DVD player) for the other unit. Example your direct tv is connected to your TV, on the back of your direct tv unit is a video /audio input. connect your dvd player to that input. on your direct tv remote or menu should be an option to use that input.

If your tv does not have the standard 3 plug video ports ( Yellow, White, Red ) then you will need an RF modulator to step in between the Direct TV box and the tv on the cable line.

You need a RF modulator, a set of audio wires with m/f connecting ends and a cable wire from the device to the tv.

Shana, What are you really trying to do!!!! Do you understand what the jacks on the Coby DVD player are for?? Can you connect the Coby player directly to TV AUX inputs and play a DVD?
Is the satellite 'box' still connected to TV/Monitor using TV Tuner set to chann 3 or 4? Is the TV you
are trying to use have any or none of those YELLOW/RED/WHITE jacks on the back of it that you
have never plugged anything into them. Is the TV always set to Ch3, and is never changed to any
other Ch number??? Do you only change Ch up or down using the satellite "box" tuner? ALL these
questions and more must be answered by you before anyone can help you out. You must know your
own equiptment and its capabilities. The COBY Player will never be found by the satellite dish tuner.

The Directv box should have at least two sets of out puts. You did not say what receiver you have and if the dvd is a player only of a recorder so its hard to say how to connect it.

If you have a dvd player only then take the output from the dvd player and connect it to you tv's second input, HDMI or component or what ever is a match between the two unites.

If you have a DVD-Recorder that you want to record programs from the directv receiver then take the second output from the receiver and connect it to the input on the DVD-Recorder and connect the output as above.

first let me say that a dvd player and a dvd recorder are different. the dvd player can only play dvd while a dvd recorder can both play and record dvd that is said. what i understand from what you write is currently is - out of your tv box into your dvd player then out of your player into your tv........ ok some dvd has two connections. line one and line two if your tv box is in line one then you should plug the rca cable in line two in. then you select line two on the dvd player then plug the other end to your vcr in line out so that is out of your vcr into line two of your dvd player.(some times one of the connection is at the front of your player hidden) if your dvd player only have one connection then you would have to plug out your tv box and replace it with the vcr cable and when you finish coping your vhs tape you plug in back your tv box to your dvd player. hope i could help.......... First check Color code
Yellow is for Video Red is for Audio Right Speaker White is for Left Speak.
Do you see rear pannel of the DVD there is Socket
Connect Yellow Cable to Video Out on the Dvd other end of the Cable to Video In on TV.
Connect Red Cable to Audio Out on the DVD other end of the cable to Audio In on TV.
Connect White Cable to Audio Out on the DVD other end of the Cable to Audio In on TV.
Turn on TV as well as DVD Player.
ON tv remote do you seee buttons as TV/AV. AV, Aux, Video, Input, or Game, Pree any one of these Buttons, You should be able to get Picture.
