My headphones have worked perfectly until last night when I stopped hearing any sound altogether. The mic still seems to work and my laptop recognizes that the headset is plugged in. Is this just a matter of needing a new headset? I use this all the time so I've absolutely gotten my monney's worth but I just wanted to make sure before I go out and buy another set. Thanks

Sounds like its a loose connection inside the headset itself. this will happen. It could either be on the plug or in the headphone itself. An from experience its more of a hassly trying to fix it then its worth.

Acer Aspire 1406 no sound issue

So sometimes laptops play up when the headphone socket gets a bit worn. If you wiggle a headphone jack in the socket (put it in at different angles, and rub around) sometimes the sound will come back.

There are two prongs that "detect" the headphones, and cut the speakers... and if they don't "un-contact" when the headphones are removed, the speakers stay off.

You'd need someone to solder a new headphone socket on the mainboard to properly fix it, but if you wiggle and get the speakers back, they should stay back until you use the headphone socket again.

Mic not working when headphone plugged in

Try changing the Windows Default Audio devices
  1. Go to control Panel
  2. Sounds and audio devices
  3. The Audio tab
  4. Then change the Sound Recording Device to Logitech Headphone INPUT
Hopefully this will work

Speakers work with ipod not with laptop

First thing, you have plugged in to the wrong point, plug in the speaker to the headphone slot(mostly light green in color).

MIC point is specifically for MIC not speakers.

The point which works for your headphones would work perfectly for speakers.

Microphone

Please plugin an external mic( typically the ones you use with headphones- ) and try.
Should work.

Cheers,

Factory installed microphone isn't working anymoe

open up your volume toolbar, advanced and make sure that your mic is not muted, turned down or that your mic +20 boost is turned off. You can always uninstall sound drivers and have vista find them again on boot up, but Vista is such a new platform that your mic hardware may not be compatible. Good luck, I have never had good results with the windows mic.

Mic is not recognized

Just had the same problem occur on a laptop with same mic. Did the exact same thing yours did, I turned the mic boost on and ran the hardware test three or four times and it finally picked it up. Hope this helps.

Headphone not working on the headphone.

Try the headfones through a sterio or something just to see if the headfone itself is not faulty if it is take it back to the shop and get a replacement. Else the socket for the plugin is faulty.
