    or,

Distinctive ring, which allows you to have several phone numbers on the same
line, is usually offered by phone companies for an additional fee, and may not
be available in all regions. Each number has a specific ring pattern. If you do
not have this service, leave your HP OfficeJet set to use the default, All Rings.
If you connect your HP OfficeJet to a line with distinctive ringing, have your
telephone company assign one ring pattern to voice calls and another to fax
calls (double or triple rings are best for a fax number).
1 Verify that your HP OfficeJet is set to answer automatically.
    2 Press Menu.
    3 Press 6, then press 2.
This selects Advanced Fax Setup, then selects Answer Ring Pattern.
4 Press to scroll through these options: All Rings, Single Rings, Double
Rings, Triple Rings, and Double & Triple.
5 After the ring pattern that the phone company established for this number
    appears, press Enter.
Tip: We recommend that you use Double Rings or Triple Rings.

Will not receive incoming fax. Everything tests OK

First, Connect the Phone line in Line 1 EXT at back of printer

Check the No. of Rings on your Answer machine.
If you have 4 Rings set on Answer machine then you need to set 6 Rings on the printer ( as simple 2 rings more than your Answer machine )
And you need to turn off ECM on the Printer setup

Press Setup button
Scroll till you find Fax Settings - Press OK
Choose Rings to Answer - Set it - 6 ( based on the Rings on Answer machine ) - Press OK
Check for ECM - Error Correction Mode - Press OK
Turn it OFF - Press OK
Check for Auto Answer option - Turn it ON too.

Try to receive Fax.. it should come thru.

Fax Rings but nothing comes thru

1.When you set it up you told it to answer after a certain number of rings. 3 rings is the safest low number .
You can dial it from any phone and it should answer, give a squeal.- if it doesn't answer, plug a plain phone into the same jack and see if it rings when you dial the number- you may have a bad jack.

My hp office jet 6110 all in one will not allow my hp pavilion dv 5000 to initiate a scan from the "director". I have reinstalled the drivers that came with the printer several times and of course...

Hi greggcowley, having two HP's connected or bouncing between either you need to change the default printer before using either. Open printer and faxes. You'll see only one device has a check mark on it. So before you go to use the 6110 left click on it once, than click File & set to default printer. Same for the DV 5000. Each time you'll need to open printer & faxes & change the default printer/scanner.

Enjoy greggcowley!
Thank you for using fixya.

Faxes office Jet K60

You have to have either a dedicated phone line just for the fax --or-- pay your phone company approximately $2 a month for a service called Distinctive Ringtone. This service will ring a certain way when you have an incoming fax. You will then configure your fax machine to pick up when this distinctive rington is heard. The ringtone is usually two or three quick rings. Your fax machine's settings will have this setting.

Unfortunately, you can't just plug your fax machine into your phone line and start sending/receiving faxes. Look through your fax machine's manual regarding the distinctive ring service. Good luck!!

FAx Line will not pick up or send faxes on HP 6110 All in One Officejet

Hi,

it seems like you have lots of services on your line. here are the things that i want you to follow to somehow resolve the issue.

1. Press the setup button on your printer, then use the arrow down button to scroll down and go to ADVANCE FAX SETUP.
2. Press okay on Advance fax setup, then it will give you options.
3. The first option is DISTINCTIVE RINGS, press okay on that.
4. It will give you first option "DISTINCTIVE RING", scroll down and look for "answer on double rings" then press okay. then try letting someone send you a fax.

Note: make sure that your answering machine is using your home telephone line so that it wont affect the faxing functionality.

1. if the issue still not resolve, try to press setup, then go to TOOLS.
2. press okay on TOOLS and it will give you options, scroll down using the arrow down button and look for RUN FAX TEST.
3. Check the result of the test if everything passed!

Let me know if the issue still not resolve so that i can go ahead and give you additional steps.

thank you so much.
