'DRUM CARTRIDGE END OF LIFE' MESSAGE

HAVE REPLACED THE DRUM AFTER MESSAGE 'DRUM CARTRIDGE END OF LIFE', BUT MESSAGE IS STILL THERE! WHEN I PRINT A TEST PAGE THE OUTPUT IS PERFECT.

THE NEW DRUM HAS BEEN TESTED IN ANOTHER PRINTER AND IS OK. ALSO THE ORIGINAL WORKS IN ANOTHER PRINTER.

The back right of the drum has a small 20mm F80mA fuse that you need to replace to reset the drum counter.
(fuse blows to reset the drum life setting)

Try upgrading a firmware, Else contact service center to reset the drum counter ( get the program to reset or visit them with printer) . Else contact manufacturer.

  • Anonymous May 13, 2008

The programmes are manufacturer secrets the y will provide on request.

Now u may contact service center or. thouroghly clean with care and see. Else Authorised service centers may help you to solve this issue.

I have the MCF 7340. I am getting a message - End of Drum Soon. So, I bought a new drum ($120) and installed it. Now it says Drum end. and won't print. Ive turned the machine on and off several times,...

If you open the front cover of your printer where you install the toner cartridge and press the "Clear/Back" button with it open, an option comes up on your LCD Display that says "Replace Drum?" press 1 to reset it. That should fix your problem!

Toner light is on on Brother HL-2170 Laser Printer and the computer is not recognizing a print task. Can you help me fix this problem? Also, I just replaced toner a couple weeks ago.

Description of Problem 100000013553
I just replaced the toner cartridge and the Toner LED is still on, or the status monitor continues to display the message "Toner Life End". What can I do?

The yield of the TN330 toner cartridge is approx. 1,500 pages.
The yield of the TN360 toner cartridge is approx. 2,600 pages.
Approximate cartridge yield is declared in accordance with ISO/IEC 19752(Letter/A4).

Brother strongly recommends that customers use only genuine Brother drum units and/or toner cartridges. Each Brother laser printer is designed to work at pre-set temperatures that are matched exactly to each of our individual toner formulations. Each individual component is designed to work with the other to ensure quality and reliability. Using non-Brother supplies may affect the hardware performance, print quality and machine reliability. The Brother limited warranty does not apply to any problem that is caused by the use of third party drum units, toner cartridges or toner.

1. Verify you installed a NEW, out of the box, genuine Brother toner cartridge (TN360/TN330).

If a toner cartridge from another machine was installed (even if there?s still toner left in the used cartridge) or a starter toner cartridge (included with the purchase of a machine) was installed, the Toner LED will stay on and the message "Toner Life End" would continue to appear on the display.

2. Verify the toner cartridge is installed correctly by following the steps listed below:

a. Open the front cover by pulling the tabs on the left and right side of the printer towards you.

b. Lift the drum unit slightly and pull it out. Place the drum unit on a piece of disposable paper or cloth to avoid spilling and scattering the toner.

c. Remove the toner cartridge from the drum by holding down the lock lever (blue tab) on the left side of the drum unit and lift the toner out. Handle the toner cartridge carefully. If toner scatters on your hands or clothes, immediately wash it off with cold water.

d. Gently rock the toner cartridge from side to side five or six times to distribute the toner evenly inside the cartridge.

e. Place the toner cartridge into the drum (be sure it clicks into place).

f. Clean the primary corona wire inside the drum unit by gently sliding the blue tab on the top of the cartridge from right to left several times. Return the blue tab to the home position before reinstalling the drum unit assembly.

g. Reseat the drum unit into the printer pressing it in securely.

h. Close the front cover making sure it latches on both sides.

If the Toner LED is still on or the status monitor continues to display the message "Toner Life End" the printer will need service.

The printer has a one year limited exchange warranty. If the printer is in warranty, call Brother Customer Service at 1-877-Brother (1-877-276-8437) for warranty options.

If the printer is out of warranty, contact a Brother Authorized Service Center for repair by clicking on the link below:

Printer wants toner cartridge replaced, though not empty

unfortunately the drum within the cartridge has reached end of life so changing to a new drum cartridge would resolve this issue.

I have a brothers copier DCP 8060 and it has a message in the lcd window stating drum near end. What is this...is this is different than the toner cartridge?

The drum unit will wear out and need replacing. The toner cartridge clips into the Drum Unit.
If you print out the system setting report, it usually shows a bar graph with drum life indicated as a percentage.

Had toner life end message. Replaced toner and drum with oem, machine reset but now just making blank copies. Tried to print internal report that's blank too

To reset the sensor after installing a new toner cartridge follow these steps.
1. With unit powered On, open the front cover.
2. Press the "Options" key. Display will show "Replace Drum?"
3. Press "Start" key.
4. Press 1,0 .
5. Display will show "Accepted" for approximately 2 seconds. Then display will change to "Cover Open".
6. Close cover and see if Toner Life End error message has gone.
Please note that this must be done with a new cartridge so the unit will see that there is toner in the cartridge.

Change of toner

I have a brother mfc 7840w

I first used the electrical tape trick and that worked for a while. Then got the toner low message again. I then tried the *00 trick, which works as follows:

1. lift lid and open front cover
2. press clear/back. "Replace Drum?" will appear on the screen.
3. Press "*00" it will then read accepted and the toner low error (End of Toner Life) should go away.
4. close it all up and your done.
