Neither shift key works on laptop. Problem occurs using both built-in and external USB keyboard. Also, some lower case print as caps, erratically. Attempt at single line, file, or shortcut selection by internal touchpad or external mouse causes all available files, shortcuts, or document lines to be selected. Your on screen keyboard should have a button labeled ?123, after pressing this to switch to numbers/symbols, press the Shift key to change to additional symbols.
You use teh shift key and the [FN] key to access these extra sets of characters. If it is basically a circle around a symbol then press and Hold the [FN] key while pressing the key you want. If it is the ?,,{,},:," or any of the symbols on the upper part of the number keys at the top of the keyboard just press and hold the shift key while pressing the key.
On brothers there is usually words written above the top row of keys. One of them usually says KBII Press CODE and that key and you will select the second set of symbols.
hold shift and press the 2 key on the row above the alphabet keys. the extra symbols are there for if you were to set the computer's OS to a different language keyboard
On these keyboards, the non colored symbols are typed by holding down the shift key and tapping the symbol. If you want to type the colored key, then you have to hold down the Alt Gr key and tap the colored symbol key.
