I have a 42 inch Gallevia model GV 42L. When TV is initially turned on blue screen comes up for about 2 seconds, it then goes black and a screeching noise comes through both speakers on the TV. No Picture and no other sound. Any thoughts on what might be causing this? Thanks in advance.

The power source has failed - the sound is the source that autooscillates because even its protections have been damaged and are no longer capable of safely shut it down.
It's a big failure so call a repairman, ther's nothing more you can do.

Gv 42l power blue screen no signal

Yes, a cap will rarely cause this issue.

If blue screen set is ok power wise.

If blue when connections are made to rear inputs also it means it is not the tuner in the set---a good idea is to hook a DVD up, turn it on and then the set--select that input with the DVD already on--

That aside you may want to make the effort to call Vizio and see if this is a known issue or if a software upgrade is available for this issue.

If I had to "guess" it will be the main board that processes all signal inside the set.

Do some research with GOOGLE by model number "known problems" blue screen only etc.

I turn on the tv and it has a blue screen and no

Just try to reset so picture will back to normal again, some LCD TVs have a reset button. If available and accessible, try using the reset buttons before using the steps below. Using the reset buttons can save time.
1. Unplug the LCD TV power cord from the power outlet.
2. Unplug any connected devices (DVD, Set-top boxes, etc...)
3. Press and hold the LCD TV power button for five seconds.
4. Plug the LCD TV power cord back into the power outlet and turn on the TV.
5. Open the on-screen menu to confirm that the LCD TV is responding again.
6. Turn off the LCD TV and reconnect the devices.
7. Turn on the LCD TV.

Hope it may help you;

Thinking about buying a used Vizio 42"

Don't buy it. VIZIO is not standing by their products.

My GV42L had issues from the ssart and now it shows No Signal and shuts of in 2-3 seconds. I read many similar issues on this site with VIZIO.
