Problem with Rotel RA 870

After turning the power on the Rotel RA 870 amp the protection light stays on for hourse preventing me from playing my system. when it finally goes off i can play my music for and hour or 2 but it sounds under powered and eventually the light comes back on and these prevents me from playing music anymore. i have the amp for 10 years now and i only use pre amp section of it since i bought it. almost never switch it off so that may have something to do with the problem. PLEASE ADVICE

Since it is a Rotel, it is a good unit and worth fixing. At this point, you need to take it to a good repair shop and let a qualified tech look at it. There are no user serviceable parts inside and if you go poking around in there, you WILL make the problem worse. Rotels' are nice units and represent a good value in stereo gear. Take it to a reputable repair shop that repairs Rotel under warranty. If thats not available to you, then a good repair shop should be able to get you going. Good luck...Rob

Rotel RHB-10 amp not firing up anymore; protection light/cicuit not engaging

Check the rest of the power supply, for example the transformer if there is no power at all. If you are getting some indication of power, check the voltage regulator circuit.

I have a rotel amp model no is ra-313

I'm guessing you don't know for sure that it even needs fuses. They don't go out like they used to, as everything is controlled by a microprocessor(computer within your unit). I would suggest, that you, with the power plug pulled out, use an ohm meter to be sure that each fuse is shorted. HALLO I HAVE A ROTEL RA 9858X AND AGTER PLAYING FOR A FEW MINUTES I LOSE THE RIGHT SPEAKER CHANEL

Try interchanging the speakers. If the right channel works, you have a problem with your speaker.

Rotel POWER AMPLIFIERS parts RB 870. The ON/OFF switch is broken - it will not turn off the amp. I have to pull the plug to turn it off. Where can I get a replacement part.

Power switches generally have to replaced by the same thing, due to safety standards.
I don't know if any of these firms stock Rotel parts, but you can give them a try. They are all online electronic spare part stockists: CPC, SEME, Willow Vale.
Two more appear to be trade only: Charles Hyde and Son, and Wizard.
Failing them contact Rotel, they might have the part or suggest the place to go.

I have a rotel RA - 820B x 3, that has stopped working.

Hi Nell. It is serious. Unless you are technically inclined, it needs to be checked out by qualified person. It will be fairly expensive to repair. Get an estimate.
Thanks

Need manual for ra 840bx4 & wattage output when remote speakers?

Lets try the simple stuff first. This whole problem could be caused by a dirty switch contact. Pick up some electronics cleaner from a local electronics shop and spray the switch (from the inside of the unit). Work the switch on/off a number of times then respray one more time. That should clean out any dirt that is there. Try the unit again and hopefully the problem is resolved. If not, then the switch itself may need to be replaced. When you get the cleaner, get one that contains a lubricant as well. This will help to prevent the problem from coming back again.

Rotel power amp

some amps have a switch to bridge them rather than wiring a bridge meaning output is mono check to see if yours has this switch if you do simply put back to stereo

I have a 3yr old Rotel Amp RB1080 with RC1070, problem no sound all lights working all fuses good.

This unit is in protect mode. The outputs are disabled to prevent further damage to either the amp or the speakers. If you are not comfortable with electronics, bring this to a servicer. Expect a parts cost in the range of $15-$40 plus the local labor rate.
