All Lowrance systems have an in-line 3 Amp fuze. My guess is that when it broke and fell off the fuze shorted out. Look back the power sypply to the unit and you will find the in-line fuze. Replsacit with a new 3 Amp fuze and you should be up and running.

I bought my grandfather a Garmin echomap 44 DV. Recently the transducer was stolen is it possible to still use it without the transducer

I believe it will work without the transducer. This is based upon my locating reports of other Garmin models working without the transducer such as the Garmin echoMAP CHIRP 74sv. Garmin support would likely respond to such an inquiry.

How to install wiring

Start at the transducer, mount it then pull the transducer wiring forward using a wire snake. At the same time pull forward 14ga wire to attach to your power leads.
on most boats I've done this process takes from 90 minutes to 3 hours.
The transducer and head unit are easy to put on. Getting wire from point A to point B is the time consuming part.
Once you have your wires pulled forward route them to your head unit at your console. Drilling of access holes may be required.

Connect power, plug in the transducer line.
Black to negative at the battery, red to positive, don't forget to put in the in line fuse included in your box.

Good luck.

My Mark 4 sometimes shows incorrect depths. The transducer has not moved and no problem with electrical. One point it is working fine, the screen then runs multiple vertical lines and the depth chan

Take note if when the vertical lines appear on the screen if the depth numbers begin to flash. If this is the case then the transducer has lost bottom contact and the unit is trying to reacquire bottom contact. If the transducer is parallel to the bottom of the lake while your boat is not moving then, the next time you have it on the trailer, turn your unit on and go listen and or feel the transducer to see if you can hear and or feel the tick or sonar ping. If you can't your transducer may be faulty. If the loss of bottom contact occurs when you are moving it will happen at a certain speed. This is the result of air bubbles passing under the transducer and disrupting the sonar signal causing loss of bottom contact.

Sonar not Working

Transducer not parallel to bottom - kicked up. Manually set depth to see if the auto depth is the problem.

Got a HDS 5 and im getting bad or false on my sonar when traveling showing fish and structure. When trying to hold ground and im backing up it doesn't even read?i have it on auto sensitivity

Check the mounting and cable connection of the transducer on the stern. If loose will tilt during movement, in reverse wakes from the prop. CAREFULLY check unit during these conditions. The transducer needs to be completely submerged. Good Luck.

Sonar only reading the surface

First, ensure that the transducer face is pointing down when the boat is level in flat water. You may want to do this step like a tv antenna, adjusting the angle of the transducer while watching the screen.
If that doesn't work, then try moving the transducer further into the water and repeat step one.
Sonar systems are (largely) directional, and will work best when parallel with the seabed (or lake bed etc)

Lowrance x135 not functioning properly

Had the same issue with another brand. Turned out the transducer cable was picking up noise from other cables (power, trolling mtr. etc). Try moving the transducer cable away from any other cables. I put the cable in a 1/4 " plastic housing up to the point where it was above deck and it stopped all the strange stuff. Not sure about the temp issue??
