Most likely there is a capacitor that jump starts your air flow motor, and that capacitor is shorted and needs to be replaced. Be careful, if you don't know what you are doing, don't touch the capacitor, it has a high voltage across it.

I have a FEMA camper and my rooftop A/C makes a humming sound with no air flow. what do you think ?

Hi!!

It seems like the blower motorr is not kicking in. Turn breaker OFF, remove the grill, check that electrical connections are nice and tight, and turn breaker back ON, start unit and see if evaporator coil is gatting cold, if so, Turn Breaker off, remove blower motor capacitor and test it, if capacitor OK, blower motor needs to be replaced.

When unit is plugged in it just hums then breaker on unit trips

Hi, If the motor hums and trips breaker it is froze up, or shorted out. When they lock up like that, they draw a lot of amps which in turn trips the breaker. There is not much you can do but try and remove this motor and replace it. It may be worth it as I am sure the price tag on this heater is not cheap. You can try and get to the motor and see if maybe it is just stuck, as I have had this happen before and get it to work again. More then likely, it has died out on you. Please let me know what you find and keep me posted.
Sincerely,

this could be a bad capacitor,a shorted wire or bad run windings in the compressor.

Rv electrical question

By the main breaker in the camper, do you mean the main 24 or 12 volt breaker, or the incoming 120vac breaker? Is it tripping the breaker in the camper, or the house? If it is tripping the breaker inside, i would look for maybe water damage, rusty components, maybe have an electrician come look at it, not worth going out away from home, and that problem ruining your vacation! Does this unit have a generator set? Try disconnecting the generator too. Hope that helps!
