Typically, this type of handheld has a useful range of approximately 1-2 miles. This distance will be increased with other radios being mobiles and base stations. Distances of 5 miles is possible if the other person has a good base station antenna. I would not expect much from the stock rubber ducky antenna.

TR23 is a bigger transistor toward the fron left of the radio. Cant miss it. It is near the Mic Connector. That is a Voltage regulator.

29 ltd st it only reches about 5 miles how can i git it to go out fither and receve beter.

That really is the distance limit for a standard CB radio - about 5 miles with 5 watts. It will vary depending on time of day and sunspot cycles as well, but 5 miles is about as good as a regular CB will get.

I just purchased two radios. How far will they transmit and receive with good clarity in the city? I need to transmit and receive from about six to eight miles away clearly. Thanks.

bobengelman,

Typically and unmodified handheld CB will have a decent talk distance of 1-2 miles with both being a handheld. Further distances can be had if one of the radios was a mobile or base station with distances of more than five miles with weak signals. In some cases the antenna can be changed to a better longer antenna. Extention type antennas typically transmit about a mile per watt. Conditions such as terrain will have an impact on signal specifically mountains or buildings. Better results may also be had by purchasing a mobile magnet mount with a PL-259 to BNC to fit the radio. A magnet mount placed on a air conditioning unit or large cookiesheet as high as possible will make decent gains for distance if the radios are intended to be stationary.

Love my radio but when i have in my trudc it

my radio did the same thing with the freq. jumping around from vibrations and bumps. I took it out of the bracket and laid it on the dash .that helped reduce the problem. when i took it to a repair tech he fixxed it in 2 minutes. he said the voltage regulator conections were loose , he resoldered them and the radio has been fine ever since.

Need a shop

You may have ant. trouble if the SWR is hi
that feeds power back into the radio and
could damage it,lets hope not start with a
good ant.and maybe the radios are not hurt
