It's most likely coming from the wash motor bearings. Based upon the age of the dishwasher it might be time for a new one. Although it can be fixed by replacing the motor. It is probably a dying recirculation/drain pump. It serves both purposes so is only off when the drying cycle starts. If the bearings are going bad the seals will probably fail soon too since they will be more stressed by any wobble in the pump shaft due to wear. 

I have a maytag that sounds the same way but washes and spins fine despite all the noise???

How deep do you want to get into this?It sounds like the wash pump motor bearings that are worn.You can pull the unit out flip it over and wd40 the bearings in the motor or you can replace the bearings.Try to lube them first.

It could be the impeller on the motor. The impeller fits over the shaft of the motor and might have split/broken up. That funny noise is probably the shaft spinning inside the damage impeller. Fortunately the impeler is fairly inexpensive and easy to replace. I believe there are one or two parts/covers to remove that are held in by a roughly half dozen torx screws.
