Miele dishwasher model G858 water will not circulate and the intake / drain code flashing? Does anyone know what needs to be replaced?

when you start a cycle, your machine should drain for 30 sec, fill with water, and then the circulation pump should come on. your water level should be up to the handle on the filter in the bottom. if you drain, and fill to the handle and then the intake drain error comes on, your circulation pump is stuck. if it does not fill to the handle, you may have a problem with the inlet valve.

What does it mean when F 14 is displayed in the window?

F14 - "level/pressure switch failure." The level switch monitors the dishwasher's water pressure, as it circulates, which is especially critical, during the heating cycle (main wash). Level switch failure can commonly happen from poor circulation, or from the defective level switch, itself. The most common reason for poor circulation is low water fill level. In other words, during the water intake cycle, insufficient water came into the dishwasher. Observe if enough water did come into the dishwasher, Check the water level, by using the filter's handle (located on the floor, of the inside of the dishwasher) as a reference point. At the end of the water fill stage, the water level should be just underneath the filter's handle. If the water level is more than half an inch, below the filter's handle... then that could be a problem. The sympton would be a noisy, sluggish, whooshing sound of water, during circulation - It wouldn't be the same old quiet Miele dishwasher you knew.

If you have the low water fill problem, then look at the dishwasher's water intake hose. Miele call this their Waterproof System hose (WPS). It's a water hose with an integrated electric valve. First, shut your water valve that connects to this WPS; disconnect the WPS from your valve; look inside the end of the WPS. With a needle nose plier, remove the rubber seal, filter and the water restrictor; clean them of any possible debris; put all the parts back into the WPS, securely; reconnect the hose; open your water valve; and test the dishwasher. If the problem persists, then the WPS will need to be replaced (WPS~$170).

Other causes for F14, can be weak circulation from foreign item(s) (plastic wrapping, broken glass, etc,...) lodged inside circulation pump impeller, or no circulation, at all (circulation pump stuck). Of couse, the defective level switch, itself, can cause the F14, too. The least common causes for the F14 can be broken wires to and from, level switch and electronic unit, and a defective electronic unit.

Dishwasher detergent does not dissolve during cycle. Clumps in prewash and main wash compartments

Either:

1. the water does not get into the dishwasher open the dishwasher 3-4 times during cycle, you should see some water at least once, if not - check water valve, water level float and water pressure.
2. the pump is clogged - there is water, the motor will run but no water is circulated. Check pump filters, check chopper and impeller.
3. motor in main pump is not working - could be caused by something stuck on the impeller or chopper or could be a problem with the motor itself or control board. Check if line voltage is coming to the motor during wash/rinse cycle.

Good luck,

Loud noise when unit is pumping

Sounds like it is not getting enough water. Try adding water to it to see if the sound goes away. Start the unit at the begining of a cycle, open the door after it has started to circulate and see where the water is at. If it is low then you have a problem with the amount of water coming in, possibly the waterproof (valve) is going. If the level is good and it happens later in the cycle, it could be a drain issue. You may have to get in a tech.
