Windows XP freezes when botting with the ACER as a second screen

I have a Dell Inspiron e1505 Laptop. Jusy bought the Acer AL1916W 19" LCD. When booting to Windows with the ACER attached everything slows to a crawl and eventually the system freezes.

FYI, the screen works very well in Linux Xandros. I have a dual boot system.

I belive the graphics drivers are current.

Help is greatly appreciated.

"Input Not Supported" after adjusting screen resolution

What resolution are you trying to run? The native resolution for your monitor is 1440 x 900, setting to that should fix your issue

Acer AL1916W pluged into lap top but can't get both to run.

Have you used the Fn button on your laptop and changed the video display Icon on the Blue Function keys. You need to change the display wait a few seconds for it to take affect. There are several modes try them all so you know how to use them.

1440 x 900 setting for monitor means I can't see my whole desktop on my toshiba laptop...

Not all laptops display adapters will allow the individual settings for a screen and a monitor to take effect correctly.
This happens especially when one is a widescreen and the other is a standard screen.
It seems your settings are taking effect on both screens at once instead of on each screen individually.
I assume you have adjusted te display sizes in your display settings ?
If so, did you adjust each display separately ?
You may also have to see if your display adapter has the most correct drivers. That may help.

No Signal

Probably the settings on the computer graphics card output.
You need to selct the external screen.

Just to be sure it's not a screen fault, are you able to test it on another PC (desktop, not laptop)?
