Top feeder won't work properly

While faxing or doing several sheet copies the feeder starts taking the sheet and then stops and makes a slipping noise. Can someone tell me how to fix it? Thanks.

Hello!

have you tried cleaning the separator pad inside the automatic document feeder?

try to Load one or two sheets of unused plain white full-size paper into the document feeder tray, and then press Start Copy Black to pull the pages through the automatic document feeder. The plain paper releases and absorbs residue from the rollers and separator pad.

If the problem persists, clean the rollers and separator pad manually

The auto paper feeder does not have a paper jam, it will start to take a sheet in, but then it stops, and makes an awful grinding sound

You need to very carefully check entire paper path in the machine - sure that if you do so, you will come across something that is responsible for the condition alluded.

If you don't and the condition persists , then you definitely have a mechanical issue with your printer.

How do I stop Fax from feeding more than one copy of typed sheets through the machine at onc time?

If you take some alcohol, and put a couple of drops in the center if a piece of paper, then pass it through the feeder a couple of times, this should clean the feed and separate tires, do this a couple of times, then try passing a couple of sheets to see if the problem has been eliminated.

Hope this helps.

Faxing

if using the feeder probably face up as it will likely pull the document in and invert it to lay face down on the scanning glass.

if you lift up the feeder (like lifting the top of a copy machine), then it would be face down on the glass.

there should be an image on the feeder illustrating how the document should be placed - if it looks like a page with lines on it with a bent corner then it is face up.

Fax doesnt work right

Either a section of your l.e.d. array is dead (lights that light up under the sheet feeder when scanning), or the scanner glass under the sheet feeder is VERY dirty, but it's unlikely that it would be that contaminated. You can try cleaning it, but my money is on the LED's

Samsung Fax/phone model 1600

You could try opening the feeder and clean the gray rollers with mentholated spirits and see how that helps as it just maybe the rollers are slipping slightly.

Once you have done the above take out all of the paper from the back feed and using one sheet blot the leading edge with some spirit and place back into the machine (The back of it) then try coping something there will be a paper jam and do this a couple of times. Once you have done this wipe the area dry put new paper in and then try doing a copy and the paper should feed perfectly now and the test will come when fax comes in.

I do hope this helps you
Thanks J

Any clicking noises? Can you make a good copy? Paper seems to be dragging thru the doc feeder. Gears could be stripped, cover may not be closed tightly.

Erratic operation thru top copy/fax function

I don't really want to get into this, but you sound desparate. i don't work on your model very often, so bear with me. When a sheet jams, don't just pull it out. Open the document feeder as far as you can and note where it stopped (the side tha DID NOT feed). Look for a possible obstruction or even spot of something that looks dirty or sticky. If so, remove or clean it. Look at the leading edge of the jammed sheet, see if there are any indentations that could possibly line up with a sensor flag, roller edge, etc. Last suggestion. Press down of the side of the document feeder that DID NOT feed through. If this helps, then there is a problem with the latch that holds the document feeder closed. Without seeing the unit it is difficult to diagnose correctly. Let me know one way or the other. Any observations will be helpful. Ed One more thing! Make sure the leading edges of the pages you are sending are perfectly straight and smooth. Make sure that they HAVE NOT been stapled at one time (the indentation can cause a problem)
