Computer says printer's "Waste ink absorber is full. Contact Service center for replacement of the waste ink absorber". printer won't print. Canon Pixma iP 1500 series printer
What is the make and model of your printer (I'm guessing it is a Canon?)
You have three options to clear this message:
A lot of people take option # 3, saying that the message is just designed to bring more revenue to Canon, but that the pads never really overflow or need cleaning/replacing.Take the printer to a Canon Authorized Service Center. They will replace the ink absorber pads and reset the ink counter to clear the error message.
Clean and replace the ink absorber pads yourself, then clear the error message.
Just clear the error message and forget about the ink pads.
To reset the counter and clear the message:
If you want to clean the pads yourself:Disconnect printer from AC power
Press and HOLD the POWER button, and plug the printer power cable back in again
If you don't want to deal with the ink pad mess, you can have a service technician do it, but they'll charge some money.Turn on the printer with the cover open until the head moves to the left side then
disconnect the power cord so the head is now positioned away from the
pads. The two pads can be lifted up easily with a pair of sharp
tweezers then rinsed in running water. They will become white again and
can be blotted with paper napkins then air dried in a warm location (like an industrial oven set to 40°C).The wells in the rubber holder
can be cleaned with cotton swabs before returning the two pads (left
side first, then press down the right side).
