What is the make and model of your printer (I'm guessing it is a Canon?)

  • Anonymous May 06, 2008

You have three options to clear this message:

Take the printer to a Canon Authorized Service Center. They will replace the ink absorber pads and reset the ink counter to clear the error message.

Clean and replace the ink absorber pads yourself, then clear the error message.

Just clear the error message and forget about the ink pads.
A lot of people take option # 3, saying that the message is just designed to bring more revenue to Canon, but that the pads never really overflow or need cleaning/replacing.

To reset the counter and clear the message:

        Disconnect printer from AC power

Press and HOLD the POWER button, and plug the printer power cable back in again
If you want to clean the pads yourself:

Turn on the printer with the cover open until the head moves to the left side then
disconnect the power cord so the head is now positioned away from the
        pads.

The two pads can be lifted up easily with a pair of sharp
tweezers then rinsed in running water. They will become white again and
can be blotted with paper napkins then air dried in a warm location (like an industrial oven set to 40°C).

The wells in the rubber holder
can be cleaned with cotton swabs before returning the two pads (left
side first, then press down the right side).
If you don't want to deal with the ink pad mess, you can have a service technician do it, but they'll charge some money.

What is e 27 and e 8??

Those two are error codes, and they mean the following:

E8 - The waste ink absorber is almost full. Press the OK button to clear the error.
Printing can be done until the waste ink absorber becomes full. If the waste ink absorber becomes full, please contact your local Service Center for replacement of the absorber and machine maintenance.
The waste ink absorber is a part inside the machine, which absorbs ink used in the cleaning operations, etc.

E27 - Manual does not specify what this means, but tells you what you should do: Turn the machine off, and remove the power plug from the outlet. About ten minutes later, plug it in again, and turn the machine on. If the problem is not resolved, the machine may require servicing. Please contact your local Service Center.
You can read more about the error codes on Canon website.

"ink absorber is almost full, contact service center" - what does this mean?

Inkjet printer has waste ink absorber inside, sponge alike. The function of waste ink absorber is to localize and keep waste ink safe inside the printer and does not harm the electrical parts.
Waste ink is produced from print head cleaning process and borderless printing. When capacity of the ink absorber raise to about 90% then warning message appears.
You need to bring your printer to the nearest service center to get waste ink absorber replaced.

Its appear " The ink absorber is full. Contact the service center."

Inkjet printers have a fibrous pad inside them that collects the waste ink from cleaning the print head. Over time, this pad fills up with ink and can no longer hold any more. When this occurs, the printer indicates a "waste ink full" error.

Replacing the waste ink absorption pads is something an authorized canon service facility can take care of for you.

Printer says ''waste Ink absorber is full'' see service center

This is what the manual says: Ink used for cleaning is absorbed in a waste ink absorber placed in the machine. Press [OK] to cancel the error so that you can continue printing. Once the waste ink absorber becomes completely full, printing cannot be done until the waste ink absorber is replaced.
Canon recommends to contact a Canon service representative as soon as possible.
