The syntax of the command is
im not sure on how - 4aa123f.jpg
where function is the expression you are differentiating
x is the value of variable x at which you are evaluating the derivative, and tol is the tolerance (the error) you are willing to tolerate in the result.

If you do not want to specify a tolerance just the last comma and tol.

To enter the command d/dx you use key sequence [SHIFT][Integral]
To enter the symbol x in the expression you press [ALPHA][ ) ]
To enter a comma you use [SHIFT] [ ) ]
To enter a power of 10 in the tolerance use [x10^X] key

Example : Calculate
18c49ac.jpg
The key sequence is as follows
[SHIFT] [Integral] 3 [ALPHA] [ ) ] [X^2] [-] 5 [ALPHA] [ ) ] +2 [SHIFT] [ ) ] 2 [SHIFT] [ ) ] 1 [x10^X] [(-)] 12 ) [=]

DO NOT confuse [SHIFT] [ ) ] which enters the comma and [ALPHA] [ ) ] which enters the variable X

    Sorry
"if you do not want to specify a tolerance just the last comma and tol." should read "if you do not want to specify a tolerance just omit the last comma and tol."

How do i get inv on my TI-84 Plus caculator

To get the inverse trigonometric functions press the 2nd key then the trig function key. If you'll look at the key legends above the SIN, COS, and TAN keys you'll see the standard math notations for their inverse function.

How do you find the derivative without values for x

I am not sure I understand what you want, but if I am guessing right, you need to calculate formulas for derivatives, where the name of some variable appears eg= d(x^2)/dx = 2 x.
Sorry, the calculator does not have a CAS, you cannot perform symbolic calculations regardless of the subject (derivatives, integrals, sums of series, factoring polynomials, expanding polynomial products, polynomial division, etc.)

Well i tried to solve problem as in finding limits and derivatives but the calculator won't provide me the answer and it says i should use cas. Im not sure what cas is.

CAS is short for Computer Algebraic system such as MAPLE and other software. But some calculators can not find general solutions or non-numerical solutions to problems.
Were you trying to find numerical solutions; graphical solutions, or symbolic solutions. Most calculators can not do the symbolic things; you might have to upgrade to a ti-89 or something more powerful.

How do i get rid of the "p" on my sharp caculator. I have a EL-520W

On the back of the calculator, there is a little "reset" hole. Use a pen and press it into that hole for a few seconds, then release. You should now be able to turn on your calculator as if it was brand new from factory without the "p".

Can the TI 84 calculate second derivatives?

Hello,
I am sorry to disappoint you, the nDeriv ( function can only calculate numerical derivatives of an expression at a point. The dy/dx can do the same thing (calculate the first derivative) at one point on a displayed graph. It can be activated for graphs by pressing TRACE, then [2nd][CALC][6:dy/dx]. If you need the derivative at more than one point you have to press [2nd][CAL] [6:dy/dx] again.

What I said above concerns the native abilities of the calculator. There may be applications you can install to allow computation of 2nd derivatives. look for them on the TI site, or the archive section of ticalc.org. Try deriv

Hope it helps.

Does anyone know how to calculate derivatives using the casio fx-115es? For example: find the derivative of f(x)= 3x^3=3x. Thank you!

hello,
The calculator will calculate the derivative at a point. It will not give you the formula for the derivative, just the derivative at the point you choose.
Sorry, it can ONLY do NUMERICAL differentiations and integrations.
