SOURCE: karcher washer went dead

Dear jimbocom,
The problem is that the spill valve got stuck. When the machine is working and the gun is closed, a valve( spill valve) moves with the accumilated pressure and switches the machine off. So what happened is that when the spill valve did its job, it found no water...and remained stuck. This leaving the machine in an off position. Service and lubrication to the spill valve must be done or completely replacing with a new spill valve. In my opinion you have no serious damage, but this job must be carried out by an expirienced technician.
Regards,
MG.

SOURCE: Karcher 211 - no motor action

Dear Tigger82 (also montaver2000),
This explaination is relavent to various Karcher models, especialy your model. When you are using the machine with the gun open....presurised water comes out of the lance. When you close the gun, the machine stops. This happens by means of a Spill Valve or often called the Control Valve. When the gun is closed, this spill valve cotracts with built up pressure and at the same time works on a miro switch which cuts the electricity....and thus stops the electric motor. Now in many cases when the gun is again opened, this spill valve sticks and keeps the electric circuit closed.
In all cases you must open the cover, and locate this spill valve. Sometimes it is easy to see a micro switch on it. If you remove the miro switch from the spill valve the motor will for sure turn.
Now the spill valve gets stuck for many reasons. One of the reasons is that you leave the machine under pressure for a long time and even store away the machine with pressure still in the system. A spill valve also gets stuck due to detergent. I sometimes service the spill valve and lubricate with special solicon grease. But the best way is to change the spill valve with a new one. So in a few words, the spill valve is stuck and leaving the microswitch off. So the electric motor cannot turn. One final hint is that sometimes the spill valve is difficult to remove. So all one has to do is attach water supply and switch on the pump. With the pressure produced the spill valve will be pushed out. In my oponion this job must be done by a person who knows what he is doing. Carefull that you have safety electrical breakers. See that you have safety shoes, safety gloves and eye protection.
Regards,
Fulltech.

SOURCE: I started working with the Karcher KB4040 pressure

if the water is in anyway impeded, like kink in hose the unit turns off and goes into protection mode. That it it shuts down for a pewriod of time depending on how hot it may have got.
When its rested try it again ensuring you definitely have water flow.If the solenoid has failed it costs about !60-200 to fix as they replace all seals regardless

What can cause my kercher 380 to just stop?

If the unit has seen a few tens of hours of work, it may be the brushes. My unit was going fine, then for a minute or 2, it was like someone was winding the inlet power down then back up. Then it stopped and would not start. I replaced the brushes and it now runs as it did. Several 10's of hours old, but not ready for the scrap pile yet.

Hi, I have a Karcher 730 pressure washer and it just suddenly stopped working. I have checked the fuses etc can you give me any idea's please. Rick

The problem could be a pressure sensor that is operated by the water pressure connected to the inlet. This sensor switches the motor on only when there is sufficient water pressure on the inlet, and switches the motor off when there is insufficient pressure.

You will need to take the casing off the machine and find the sensor. It should be readily apparent as a switch attached to the incoming water supply which is operated by a small plunger. This can become corroded and stick, and will need to be removed and cleaned before the machine will operate again. If you are able to undertake this type of repair I suggest you lubricate the plunger with silicone grease when you re-assemble it.

I can't guarantee this is the problem but in my own experience it is worthwhile invetigating.
