I have a lot of redundant items in my itunes library and want to delete them. Itunes help says just pint at them press delete and you will be offerred a remove option. doesn't work. I point, point and click, point and double click on every field of the entry; nothing happens.

If your iTunes application on Mac have updated to Version 11+, you can use the method Apple supported to show all duplicate items in your iTunes library. From the menu at the top of your computer screen, choose View > Show Duplicate Items. And then manually delete unwanted ones. Files with cyclic redundancy errors means these files are corrupted and cannot be copied. Since you cannot copy these files from your faulty hard disk again then these songs are lost and you need to download them again.

update to newest itunes version setting the library to d....(do not delete old itunes) the update will do this while also moving and saving settings

Under the itunes help library it says to select the item and then press the delete key. "when you delete an item from your library (remove it from the iTunes window) you are asked whether to keep it on your hard disk (of wherever it is stored) or delete it from your computer." it also states that you might not be able to remove songs from Smart Playlist that has "live updating" turned on, because the playlist is continually updated.
