My TV picture is starting to have a noticable flicker. Could be the lamps going out? If so how are they changed? Is this something I can do?

Take the TV apart. Have the lamps ready and use gloves to put the lamps in place. Never touch the lamps with bare hands because sodium will degrade the quartz lamps.

I have a mitsubishi tv model wd 60638 I changed the lamp. Tv works fine for about 20 minutes then I start to smell like something is burning then picture starts to flicker, what could could cause this

You have a bad connector in the lamp. Stop running the TV immediately and contact the company you purchased the lamp from. this is common in older DLP tvs but not in one 5 years old unless you have a lot of hours on it. the connector can crack and arc inside the plug and then melt and smell terrible. It usually very repairable if you can get a ballast for it. the plug is part of the ballast.

Replaced lamp on my Mitsubishi 82 in dlp. after 15 minutes pic started to flicker losing color. was advised to also change lamp ballast, did that but still flickers with new lamp. put old lamp back in tv...

When you put the old lamp back in did the picture look OK? If so why did you replace to begin with? Yes, there are some poorly manufactured lamps out there, where did you obtain the replacement? Was it true OEM?

Have a wd60638 changed the lamp because old one busted now the TV works fine for about 3-5 minutes starts to hum and a clicking sound and pictures begins to flicker with colors going in and out

normally no bulb will bust ever unless you have oil on the lamp. sooo , it got too hot then. even if the fans turning its not putting out.
check the exhaust it should blow a lot of air past the lamp.

I had to replace my lamp bulb in my mitsubishi wd-60638 tv and now i have a picture again but it is fickering and greenish tint to the screen

If you tried a cheap bulb then that might be the problem as some of the bulb carrage may not be complete4lyto spec. I had one that was close but there was a gap between bulb and where it fits. I went with a bulb dealer that had I believe a 1 year warrante and I have had no problems. I had a 73838 tv set.

Ballast or Lamp?

Its not the lamp or the ballast board. In either case, you would lose picture (going blank or black) and sound would soon follow then the LEDs in front would blink if at all.

Odds are its either the DMD board or the digital board.

Green or blue vertical lines on my WD52525

it is not the lamp. the DM board is causing this problem. if the DM is going bad the FMT is not far behind. it will cost you $250.00 plus shipping one way. see www.tv-techs.com

Flickering - Toshiba 62HMX84

it could be as simple as the tv feeding back on itself in a dark room.
it is adjusting the light level because of what it sees ambient in the room.
turn on a light near the tv and see if it stays constant now.

Flickering and freezing of picture for a split second

The most likely problem for image problems and flickering is the lamp (23311083A). I found it at PartStore.com for about $180. Hope this helps.
