Recently bot a home with a GE Profile dishwasher -- only about 4 years old -- it does not get anything clean -- before replacing it I was told that it might just need some "line" cleaning -- anyone know anything about that

Hello,

Welcome To FixYa.

Before getting into this too far I have a couple of question`s which will enlighten me in which direction to steer you.

First, the home you purchased...do you know if it was un-occupied for an extended period, thus the dishwasher not running for a while ?

Second, after the unit initially starts and is full of water, do you hear the wash motor spraying water at all.

I`ll watch for your response and try to reply asap.

Thank`s,

macmarkus :)

Yes the house was vacant for at least 8 months -- I will have to run it to see if it is spraying or not -- but from what I recall -- everything sounded normal -- dishes just did not get clean -- this is a vacation home - so I am not here full time

Thank you for the response. Knowing your property was vacant so long does make me think the pump motor may have seized, it does occur with those dishwashers when idle for long periods. I'll wait for the results of you running a test before expanding on what can be done if it is indeed seized.

The dishwasher is 4 years old. It is not cleaning the dishes. Even when they are rinsed. Water temp is high enough.

Hi, try removing the spray arms and see if they are clogged - and of course unclog them. Also might be inlet valve. If you are at all technical, find it, remove it, see if it is clogged - if you have hard water - which most people do - it will clog up and should be replaced. You can use vinegar and special cleaning agents but most likely the problem is as aforementioned.

Dish washer 3 1/2 yrs old making a growling/vibrating sound.

The problem is hard water. There is a new product out called the dishwasher filtration system. It filters the water before it enters your dishwasher. It works amazing and has a money back guarantee. You will love the way your dishes look after the first load. It is also very affordable (like 70 bucks). Go to www.dishwasherfilter.com to find out more info.

The pump on my GE Profile dishwasher is not draining.

If it is the last cycle only it is not the pump. It is a wiring or timer issue. Most likely the timer.

GE Profile Dishwasher not cleaning - older PDW7880GOOSS

My GE Profile Dishwasher PDW8280N00SS wouldn't clean the dishes. I found what looked like plastic particles along with food particles in the wash arm spray holes. I found that heat had warped the gray flat filter in the bottom allowing food particles to bypass the filter, and I found that the flexible plastic sump inlet was disintegrating internally shedding plastic which clogged the filter to the pump and getting into the pump. This shouldn't happen. The material that the sump inlet is made out of is too soft and porous. I noticed other components in the wash water system made from the same white flexible rubber which is an unacceptable material. I bought replacement parts at a cost of $100 for both and this has solved the problem. What's distressing is that the replacement parts appear to be made of the same inferior plastic. And I have noticed upon closer inspection that additional interior parts appear to be heat damaged (warped). This dishwasher has been used less than 4 years and problems like these in a high end dishwasher are unacceptable.
