Hi,

As the weather is getting warmer for many people their freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong. If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing then check out the last two tips.

If your refrigerator is running but warm, then…

Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

I have a LG model #4lsc279 in the freezer the icecream was soft a day ago, today it was melting.my warranty ended 1/10/11 the refrigarator side is ok

Try cleaning the condenser coils at the bottom of the unit. Also check to make sure the blower fan is working also located at bottom of unit.

Both fridge and freezer are turned up to maximum cooling but they just aren't cold enough even though the weather is mild. Icecream is very soft - barely frozen and fridge temp is about 8 degrees...

Sounds like a failure to defrost.
Look on the freezer rear wall inside the freezer for ice bukdup.
If there is ice the defrost components ,must be replaced.

Freezer is cold, ice bin suddenly melts.

Check for air leaks around the dispenser. Check to see if flap is closing properly. Is the icecream hard? If it is soft, check the conderser coils.

Both Fridge and Freezer quit working properly at the same time.

I will need the model number as shown in photo below where the locations are most likely to be. While I am waiting I am going to go over some models like yours to see what may possibly be wrong.

Food not totally frozen, icecream melted

if it a frost free freezer then chances are it is a defrost hearter, fan motor or defrost timer
if it is not frost free then it will either be the compressor or a gas leak ( which should be under warranty)

Freezer does not freeze fast enough, icecream gets soft

Faulty Cold control (Temperature Control)
The cold control is a temperature actuated switch and should open when the set temperature has been achieved. If the control does not open and turn the compressor off, it will continue to run and all items in the fresh food section will begin to freeze.

If the control is not closing, the compressor and all fans will cease to operate. Check the control for continuity.

This is usually not a do it your selfer.

Frigidaire upright freezer Model #FFU17C3AW1 Not keeping cold

Yes that is the correct part number.
If a new cold control does not correct the problem. Replace the compressor start relay.

Temperature in freezer doesn't come down below freezing point

Searching on line, I noticed some similar problems addressed by technicians and customers. But their diagnosis was consistent: call the repair guy. They believed that the solution to the kind of problem I had was between "dump it" or "pay a big lump of dough to repair. So we replaced the old one.
